I've had a bit of a search through but I never seem to have much luck with the search on this forum, so appologies if this has been covered.

I'm looking for a decent way to mount my phone and my tablet. I don't want them stuck to my windscreen and I'm sick of buying stuff that breaks in a few weeks. I'd also prefer not big and bulky. Not fussed if it has inbuilt cables for charging/ext ant ect

I've seen a pretty neat tablet holder that bolts to the passenger seat mount and folds away beside the seat when not in use.. but can't seem to find one like this for sale.

I've tried a few cheap and not so cheap phone holders over the years but most attach to the windscreen or vent and none that I'd ever buy again.

What's everyone else running/recommend?

Both Samsung phone and tab fyi.

When I used to use a tablet in the car, I had a Ram mount which I tek screwed into the top of my dash.... Worked brilliantly.... There's a couple of guys who've used the Ram seat mounts and there's a build on here where someone with a GU placed the mount inside the center console compartment.

Right now, I just use a windscreen suction one for me phone

Ah yep the Ram with the flexi stalk look pretty good. Not exactly what I saw in another car, was a more solid folding setup. Might have been a home jobbie.

The Ram one might do for the tablet if others have had good luck with them.

This is basically the set up I had but mounted differently as mine was a GQ.... Very secure

Got it thanks. I'm in a gu3 so I don't have that little spot to screw into. Which is part of my problem. Nowhere to put anything.

That’s what I had in my gu and mounted exactly the same, worked a treat.

I have a Ram mont for my Sammy Tablet with a seat mount and flexi stalk. Works well. Worth paying the extra for something decent IMO.

I have 1 of these:

2 of these:

and 1 of these:

I screwed one ball to the top of the dash, made a frame out of some 1.2mm plate that holds the mount and that screws into the pen holder infront of the little drawer. I'll put up a pic when possible.

It is very sturdy and secure.

Thanks mate. Would be good to see how you set it up. Looks like Ram is the gear I want.

I used some cheaper stuff prior to the Ram gear. Don't waste your time & money, the Ram stuff is top quality.

Yep, I've pounded over a squillion corrugations and the RAM mount holds firm, well worth the extra $s.

Here you go.

I've screwed one of the balls onto the dash. Built a backing plate out of 1.2mm gal sheet I think it is. The arm goes from the ball on the dash to a ball attached to the backing plate. The Ram mount screws to the backing plate and into the pen holder part of the dash as you can see.

It is VERY rigid, corrugations.vibrations barely bother it.

Awsome, thanks fellas. They have a bunch of options so I'll be able to find something to suit. Never even looked at the Ram stuff before.

Yep agreed RAM are the way to go. I just use a windscreen suction style with the x-grip for my iPhone. Works great. Nice and solid 78140

Guys, looking for a suitable, robust RAM mount or Ram style mount for an IPAD mini into a GQ - Winnie, MudRunnerTD, Rossco, @ AB, what have you got, pics pls. As you would be aware I am realestate poor, but the Hema is a bit too small now for my aging eyes.

I suggest not using a windscreen mount. I have for years but it does fall off occasionally and is a pain in the ass... I need to buy some new bits for mine cos I am just gonna screw it through the dash.

Hey Phil mine is a Dick Smith cheapie but made my own bracket from the swivel down. Originally had it screwed into the dash with self tappers but they came loose after pounding through outback corrugations, have got it bolted through the dash now fiddly job but solid as. Yeah wouldn't recommend suction cap unless you enjoy it randomly falling off. .

I use a ram mount bolted into the little cubbyhole above the stereo on my GU. The ram mount holds a Tab 4 8" Tablet no problems. I've also got my Scan Gauge glued to the top of the tablet mount.
Recently I have also bought a quad lock windscreen mount for my iPhone. Its been on there a month or two now and hasn't moved. Love the wireless charging of the iPhone X.
They aren't cheap, but they are a bloody good mount, though you need to use the quadlock case on your phone as well. A simple quarter turn of the phone locks/unlocks it in to place. https://www.quadlockcase.com.au/products/charging-wireless-charging-head
