Starting work on trip planning for 2019.

Off the top of my head (which means, not including the finer details), the trip will be:

Leave Victoria & head up to Coober Pedy.
Coober Pedy overland to Laverton WA via Anne Beadell Hwy.
Turn right at Laverton and up to Warburton.
Turn off the Great Central Road and onto another road.
Pick up the Gunbarrel Highway
Divert slightly north up to Surveyor Generals Corner.
Back down to Gunbarrel and make our way back to Coober Pedy.

I'm planning about 3 weeks & expecting lots & lots of corrugations.

May go solo, may see if anyone wants to come along.

Any interest out there?

Still working out when and where exactly for next year but we have about 14 weeks ,not sure if we will head for Eulo same as last time and take the Plenty Highway again to get to Uluru or look for another way but want to go that way at some stage .

I might be a possible (I solo mostly).
Did part of Anne Beadell 3 weeks ago and Old Gunbarrel and CSR last year but having done it missed some bits I would like to repeat. (High winds meant the drone was grounded and I am still new to flying it)

Big trip... dunno if 3 weeks is long enough tho.

Mid year means short travel days and any sort of rush to get from A to B over the corrugations out there is a PIA.

Sometimes you can't travel thru from S.G. Corner (Wingellina to Mulga Park) so you have to backtrack to the Great Central
Be aware (if you didn't already know) S.G. Corner is guided tour access only ($100 per car and $25 pp last time I heard) and it depends on availability of guides.

Sounds like a great trip tho, enjoy.

Yep, no worries. Still lots of planning to do.

Here is a handy PDF that is reasonably up to date which I find very handy for planning.
The info is always changing so needs double checking of course but has all the links etc to appropriate bodies.

Kudos to Great Beyond for the Doc.

Hope the attachment works, first time I've tried a pdf...

That's a great little booklet ET, I don't know why they don't make things like that easily obtainable by the public????

I haven't done much trip planning yet, I was basing 3 weeks on the Madigan trip we just completed. We went from Mt Dare to Birdsville in 5 days (~720kms) comfortably with anaverage speed of around 25km/h. The Anne Beadell is said to be doable at about twice that speed, but it is about twice as long so I'm guessing that'll even out.

Then a few days up SG corner, then another 5 back to Coober Pedy.

Hmmm. Yes we may need more than 3 weeks?

Well still working on trip planning. Thinking of taking 4 weeks now, see how I'll go with work, it may be pushing it.

Still very keen on this trip, have got lots more info on permits etc.

I'm thinking 3 days to Coober, 5 across Anne Beadell, about 2 to get to SGC, 1 back from to SGC to wherever, but heading towards Uluru, 2 back across to the Stuary Hwy (??), 1 down to Coober and then 3 back home. That's 17 days off the top of the head sitting at the desk at work. 4 weeks = 20 days, so it could be a goer in that timeframe, that all needs some fine tuning.

Ummm? There are 7 days in a week in Victoria?? 4 weeks would be 28 days to travel? Just say'n 😁

Quick change of plans after the DoD released their exclusion periods for FY 2019 - 2020 the other day. Bringing the trip forward from September to start of July. No access to Anne Beadell Hwy in September.
