Today I took a Ti 62 for a test drive , first impressions were it sure did go well , the steering seemed
I dunno , light /vague , probably just a lot different to my Ute , wife said the passenger seat didn't seem as comfortable as the LC200 ,
I actually run it over a weigh bridge , front axle 1540kg , rear 1380kg , total 2920kg , 2 ppl = 170kg
and fuel gauge was on half . Specs Tare = 2715kg .

The third row of seats look like a bit of a pain to remove , leaving a recess in the floor any tips on what that could be used for . I might even remove the second row of seats .
Fitting out a Wagon will be a very different project for me
I didn't ask the dealer for a change over price , I told them what I was prepared to pay , they will let me know tomorrow.

One Ti has a price tag of $79700 the other $75000 but I don't really care what the price is , the Dealer can put any number they like on the windscreen , it's the change over that interests me .

Where abouts? Ti Series 4 built in 2018 should be closer to $70K. I know, I just ordered one. NSW were able to match it, and from what I have heard Victoria is a little cheaper. That's drive away with a private buyer/ no additional reasons as to why I got a good price. If you jump on Aussie Y62 page on facebook, dealers often state what they have in stock.

I just came back from Seymour in Victoria - they have a Titanium built Jan 2018 ready to go. Didn't ask their price as I had already signed, but they could be worth a call...

EDIT: I'm in ACT too...

Yeah CJ , I have seen a lot of varying prices , like I said it's the change over price I'm interested in , I have said what I'm prepared to pay change over , taking into account the sticker price of the new vehicle .
Buying cash no trade is different to trading a vehicle , I don't care if the sticker price is 200k , that just means I wants extra 100k for mine .
It's the number on the bottom of the page , I look at .

I did the deal a couple of days ago signed up for a new Ti , got a pretty good deal I think . We take delivery about the 18th next month ( June ) then I guess I will look into setting it up , I don't intend to go overboard on mods , a bar to take my Runva Winch , fit out the back to take my fridge and the other junk we carry , I'm thinking I would like to have the second battery in the back rather than under the bonnet , I will probably go see FourBy Fitouts in Hallam their gear looks very good
It's going to be very different setting up a wagon than a Ute with tray .

Wow, it must be Patrol month in Canberra. I brought a TI-L on Friday.

I found the seats comfortable. I am 190cm and 100kgs.

It is replacing a RG Colorado.

I think all us newbies scour forums for a reference point on how much to pay for something we are not so experienced in.

I paid $86k drive-away in the ACT (1st time rego is a bit more expensive than other states) for my Ti-L, including tow bar, roof racks and the 5 year warranty. The car has to be delivered to the dealer ie. was not on the lot. It has to be a 2018 build.

Hope this helps others looking to buy to get a better deal.

I joined this forum not for the price others were paying , like I said above it's the change over price that matters , if buying without a trade in that would be different.
I was looking to see if there were any mechanical / warranty issues , there doesn't seem to be many .
Although I did that with the last 4WD but it wasn't until after I bought the bloody thing a couple of things showed up that would of been a deal breaker if I had know .
I'm now more interested in aftermarket accessories like Winch Bars , Sliders , Drawers ect
I get up the Vic Highcountry a lot , so I would like to fit some 17inch steel wheels but I want to stay with the std offset so I don't know if that's possible.

Yeah, likewise. I think most who jump on forums are keen enough to know how to haggle or know what fair value is. I'm on here for the mods and accessories too. From what I have found so far;

1. Two recovery points available. Either buy a Rhino Bar and get them with it, or get an ARB bar with OnTrack4x4 home-made recovery hooks added. There was another bloke in QLD - Buds - but he's no longer around.
2. Neither TJM or ARB will recommend (read warrant) a bar with a winch fitted. Somewhere there is a sticker on this thing that states a max load over the front is 85Kg's. As that's the rough weight of these bars - perhaps less 10kg - and a winch is 30-odd Kg's extra, then that's stuffed it. Rhino bar is 55Kg and can take a synthetic rope winch and meet this limit, with lights.
3. I am also looking at drawers. However the best set up for spare batteries appears to be in the well under the floor in the back, that holds the wheel brace/ repair kit. I want to ensure that I have made that decision (battery set up) before I put drawers in. Thinking of having one of the third row seats permanently down, then allowing the other one to be up.
4. I'm looking at buying BFG Ko2 275/70R18 125R tyres on the standard rim. I have read that there is only one steel wheel maker that made 17" ones that fitted the front brakes, and they don't import the wheels anymore.

Anyway - I am pretty much on here to pick everyone else brain and get some suggestions. Would love for it to become far more active! But I guess facebook has almost taken over in that regard...

Mate that's around $4500 in extra's fitted, so that's a pretty good price IMHO. Considering the 'list' price for a Ti is $80K, then you've done well. You get it from South side or up on the North side?

Jackofjr

I won't have my Ti for another 3 weeks , so I'm just researching at this stage , I did price a TJM Bar the other day
They said their T17 Frontier Bar with a 9500LB Winch is under the Patrols axle weight limit and would have full warranty.

The jack space under the floor that would be a place for a battery but like you say you need to get it right , it wouldn't be easy to get to after drawers were fitted ,
I will remove the third row of seats and maybe even the second row .
FourBy Fitouts do some good setup in the rear of wagons , they are not far from me , I have already talked him on the phone , I will go see him when I get the Patrol .

Im not going to be in a hurry setting this thing up , like I have said fitting out a wagon is all new to me
I'm used to just chucking stuff in the tray , I'm going to miss my undertray drawer , that had all my tools and recovery gear .
The Patrol carrying capacity is a fair bit less than my Dmax , I will have to cull some stuff
I will be interested in how you blokes go with your setups

Keep in touch regards Jacko

I got it from the South Coast.

Picked it up last Saturday. My wife drove it for 2 days and declared it is now her car. She loves it.

Next step is to get the Tow Pro Elite transferred from the Colorado to the Patrol, hook the boat up and see if I need to make any changes to the suspension.

Picked mine up last Friday. Goes in for the 1000km service this Friday :) Did a trip around the Brindabella's and Mt Selwyn - 5 on board and averaged 14.2 on the computer (only filled it once so far - when I picked it up, it was on the low-fuel-warning light!).

Bar, recovery points, compressor, snorkel, lights all booked in for next month.

I pick my Ti up next Tuesday ,
A couple of weeks ago I had a look at a Patrol fitted with a Rhino Bar , thought it looked ok so paid a deposit it should turn up late this month or early next month .
What sold me was by removing the grill the Winch can be fitted / removed from the top , no need to remove the bar ,
Anyone know if steel wheels the same size and offset as the Patrol are available, I would like to fit them to my Tvan Camper but the hole in the centre needs to be 100mm , I believe the Patrol centres are 47mm

Rhino - good choice. For me it was between that an the TJM Explorer and OnTrack down in Melbourne can manufacture recovery points for the Explorer so went with that. I can have lights (rounds potties) that I think may look out of place on a Rhino bar... Good call on the winch though... I have time before it's fitted to save up so perhaps I need to do that. Never had a winch before though - just used an old tirfor. perhaps it's time to upgrade :)

First service tomorrow. One thing is for sure - they can refund me the headlamp protector price (and they're going to). It's a rubbish design that has had them fall off twice (yes, in mountain ranges but mostly fire trails) and I can't see where they clip onto a reasonable point. Other than that, all I see is the AVE Fuel economy going down. at 900km's it's 14.0 flat - if it stays something similar, then I will be more than happy with that. I've convinced myself to be happy with 17.0L/100!

Also get the Front Runner Slimline rack tomorrow which I'm excited about. Add's another 11.4mm if anyone was wondering. Definitely done my dash with Rhino - and it's only rated to carry 48Kg when 'off road' which is up to their own definition of anything other than tarmac. Slimline doesn't have that - up to 150kg (but the roof is limited to 100Kg less the rack, so 67Kg-odd).

The Rhino Bar I'm getting has 2 rated recovery points std , I got the light mounting bar it was a extra , tossing up if I will get the Bar colour matched or not , never really been one to make a vehicle look pretty , not that I think there's anything wrong with that , it's just me to each their own ,

I have a small lightbar off my Dmax it's only a 10inch , I might use it or maybe get a bigger one , we don't really drive much at night .

Yep - the Rhino was on my radar because of the rated recovery points. Like you, I pretty well ignored the 'it looks nice' comments and wanted the functionality of it. With a light bar, I think it looks pretty good - I personally was just after the upper radiator protection (which, when all is said and done, really takes one of those one-in-a-million events for it to be of use, I suppose). But the Rhino with a couple of spotties looks a little odd.

I was going to get the colour coded bar with black in the middle, with black centre and light hoop bar. For the light bar, I was looking at Rigid Industries, which you can get from Snake Racing here in Aus. Pretty pricey, but only heard good things about them.

In the end it came to a Rhino as described for $3820 (colour coding was pretty well thrown in free) fitted, or $3100 for a TJM Explorer with 2 x rated recovery hooks done up as well (colour coded - a first for me but it again was thrown in for $100). Then when I was choosing lights (was thinking combo 20" Rigid Industries Amber/White https://shop.snakeracing.com.au/20-e-series-led-amber-white-combo/) I came to the conclusion that a $600 pair of 8.5" Stedi Lights and the TJM bar with recovery hooks would end up still less than the Rhino.

But I'll be adding a bit of length to the car, some extra weight (about 20kg more than Rhino), and as you point out - need to make a decision on the winch. So it's all swings and round abouts. I hope you enjoy the Rhino! I'm sure on here there's a thread on the bull bars - we should be adding to that once we get stuff fitted.

I'd be interested to see what you think of the Slimeline Rack , I would prefer not to have a Roofrack but I don't think I will be able to avoid it . We do have a Rooftop Tent , never got around to using it after we bought the Tvan but it might be handy at times , also things like recovery boards , chainsaw and extra fuel will have to on the roof .

CamJam

Slimeline :) Like it. Hopefully it slimes under the garage door (I think I have 16mm worth of clearance). Only reason I need a rack is because of our tent - a BlackWolf Turbo 300+ which fits sideways in the back but has to rest up on the rear window - so it's a pain to pack. Can't go in lengthwise without putting the seats down, and with the kids that's a no.

What I would say is be cautious of Rhino Rack Backbones. Ive just taken one off my Prado that I had, and although it seems pretty sweet, it's official load rating for 'off-road' is 80kg LESS the weight of the system itself. That means it can carry around 48kg in total up there. The Slimline has a 150kg loading, with no reduction in use for off-road (except we're limited by the 100kg roof limit of the Patrol, less the 40-odd Kg of the rack - so 60Kg's). I'd be reasonably certain the Backbone could handle more, but it won't warranty the results if it falls apart. And sometimes if it does, you can't pretend you were on a sealed road!

Add to your list the Christmas Tree, the random mattress you may buy or move, a sixth wheel/ 2nd spare, gas bottles - they've all gone up there on my Rhino and will no doubt do the same!

Yep thanks CJ , I did Google Slimline Racks , yep they do look to be the go ,

When we pick up the Patrol Tuesday , first thing I will do is fill it full of juice ,that's if the Dealer hasn't , ( should of negotiated that in the price :1087: ) then drive it over the weighbridge and measure hub to guard on all 4 corners ,
We plan on using a few tanks of petrol to see how it goes completely std , before I bolt anything to it ,
the front bar will still be at least a couple of weeks away , so will have time to do that .

I'm not at all dissappointed that I didn't negotiate the tank of fuel - they'd have filled it with the lowest grade chepest fuel they could find, possibly from their own dealership tank that hasn't been checked in decades... so I went off and filled it with 98.

I was ok with it - because very early on I heard the salesperson telling me the Ti had heated seats (I was test driving a Ti-L and made comment on the cooling part). I knew this wasn't the case, but to take the piss when we were emailing details back and forth, I asked him to confirm. True to form, he put in an email that the Ti had Heated seats.

Rock up (the sales person had since left the dealership) and waved that, stating it was going to cost me $990 to put heated seats in, as it was a deal breaker. They offered to pay it all. So I ended up getting sheepskin seats (don't hate me - I love them) that cost $1130 for $140 out of my pocket (the agreement we came to was he'd just give me the $990). So to lose $170 odd in fuel didn't matter - and as I say, you will at least know you've put quality fuel in from day one.

Depends where you are... I've used a mob before that's expensive, but does a first class job - search for Doyles (I used Doyles Wollongong, but there are a few around). As I said - their quote was $990, with variable temperature switches. For another one, and I don't know the price, but the Dealer (in Canberra) was ready to bring a dude down from the NSW/ QLD Border that he says their dealership chain all use - LeatherFX.com.au. So they do it also. I am sure there are plenty more.

Done properly, you won't notice it. However - the sheepskins I love! And if it's for a stiff/ sore back thing then they are somehow better. I'm in that same boat. Further - you can always add cheaper seat heaters then underneath the sheepskin, or water bottles and the like... But I get you have to be a person who fancies them. AND, it'd be cheaper just paying Doyles...

Found a mob that apparently does 17" Steelies based in Vic - from a facebook post...

"most of us have bought the Blackrocks from Offroad Konnection in melb. they may have gone up a bit.. but surely not to $400.. tell them you got the info from this page. and that we all paid $165". 17x8 +25 Rims.
