98 GU plastic strips on doors

Hi guys i bought a 1998 2.8 turbo deisel GU about 6 months ago its in very good condition for the age with only 155000klms 80 percent of the time this thing is in the bush or mud and I am forever ripping the plastic strips on the doors off so I want to remove them but there will be holes in the doors after doing so. So im looking for ideas to fill the holes was thinking LEDs running down the side.what ideas have others come up with or done to there own rigs.cheers

I never had a problem with mine .... maybe add more double sided adhesive tape - the good quality 3M stuff.

I think the led's may look a little odd on their own, without some sort of cover over them
