So the planning for the next outback adventure is underway , for a bit latter this year . Will be going via the Odnadatta track .
Been thinking a couple of ways to get down to Farina ( because we loved it last time ) , either out through Hungerford and make our way down , or back out to Inniminka , across walkers crossing track to the Birdsville track and turn left , (only reason for that way is we have never done Walkers , and the family loves Mungarrine pub ! )
But i would like to get the good oil on what peoples must see things heading up the odnadatta trk , the not so commercial for lack of a better word , pretty keen to see / get into the painted desert , will have a couple of weeks to do between Marree and Uluru , and would like to get to Mt Dare and Dalhousie as well , then spend some time around Uluru , then if time allows home via the Plenty hwy .
So ya best bits between Marree and Uluru , and yes I'm towing the van in my profile pic .

I would happily spend weeks in the corner country , absolutely loved our time out there. Noccundra pub , excellent free camping on the Willson river across the rd , or if you need power or water camp at the pub , Yowah opal fields and Currawinya nat park not really corner country but well worth the small detour , as is Hungerford. dig tree fantastic if ya like your history , Burks grave out of Inniminka ( he picked a ripper place ), camping on the Cooper at Inniminka is fantastic , Cordillo Downs wool shed Sturts stoney desert , Birdsville big red sunset Compulsory, Mungarrine pub , still one of my favorites ( if i had the $ 1.2 mill i would call it home ! ) Old Phil was amazing to chat with , fantastic wet lands and a magic bore pool !
Strezelki track , basically a highway lots of trucks , but heaps of history at some of the ruins and grave sites , Farina , another favourate great history , lots of ruins easy spend a couple of days there , got me a bit excited just writing this !

Edit: gotta say 1 of the real highlights for us and the kids was spending a couple of hours parked at the old Cooper ck ferry , the station manager from Mungarrine station pulled up for a smoke on his way south , he showed the kids heaps of photos , and told them of station life , then offered us to spend a few days at the station , but unfortunately time did not allow , totally regret that decision big time now !

Dont forget to throw in a couple of opera nets to get a free feed of yabbies along the way.
last time I was at Camerons Crn it was only a shed that served drinks no outside toilets.
Had an absolute ball there probably should of stayed the night but pushed and made Birdsville
in the dark

Locked in the route , depending on road / track conditions , the next 6 weeks wait to leave is going to be painfull ! http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2017/07/75.jpg

Oodnadatta track is full of history and things to see , the track was ok from Maree to Oodnadatta but the last bit to Marla is rough as guts and a spring breaker .
Would have done the detour to Cadney park through the painted desert but have done that before , in hindsight it would have been the better option .
Farina I agree is a must and to get there in the months they are baking bread is a must , cheese , bacon and herb pull apart loaf is to die for .
If I do the innamincka thing again I will camp along the walker crossing section out of the town reserve because the water holes are much deeper .

Unexpected stop over at one of our favorites , Yowah , 70 kph westerly head wind made for tough fuel guzzling going qtr of a tank for 100 ks , for a donation parked at the ses/fire shed , with pwr water and next door to the bore pools [emoji4] http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2017/09/24.jpg

Well done and dusted , 6500km total 2500km on the dirt , had a absolute ball , loved everything we did and saw , Walkers crossing track was fantastic with camels and a ripper of a overnight camp , Birdsville track overnight at Mungaranni pub , great night at the pub with Phil and some local shooters , awesome night at Claytons bore soaking in the bore tub with some other travelers watching the stars , Oodnadatta trk took us 5 days including taking in the painted dessert , and checking out every siding from Maree to Marla , spent a fortune doing the rock , olgas and kings canyon ( loved the rim walk at Kings ) Alice for a few days , then on to the Plenty hwy , had a fabulous night at Gem Tree , lashed out on their camp over dinner night , they are 6th generation of the original plenty station owners , great insight into the history , and how tuff these people are , spent a few days on the Plenty getting to Tobermorey , then onto the Donahue hwy to Boulia , with the next week spent getting home 😔 only issue i had was the copper gas line into the reg on the van cracked right on the flair at the reg ( flairing tool at home ) but half a hour with a couple of punches working the pipe and good as new , no punctures ( saw lots of people with damaged tyres on the Plenty , only because they didn't listen to the local advise of don't let them down ; keep em hard and drive slower !! ) or other damage , looks like they be getting a bit of rain out that way now , which they need desperately, I'll chuck some photos up once sorted to stop sideways posting !

Awesome trip by the sounds of it, Gaddy

I second the Rim Walk comment.
Being a fat old bugger I nearly died of multiple heart attacks climbing up but it sure is something to see.
