For the history buffs...:1087:

In the 1860s, Robert O'Hara Burke and William John Wills led a team of 19 men across the vast, varied terrain of Australia. Here you can see the places these pioneers visited and read about the hardships they faced.

Explore the Burke and Wills trail from start to finish using 3D Google Earth and Mapping.

With almost 100 landmarks including information and images at each stop.

The complete Burke and Wills mission, see below for user snap shots and for members only please click on the attachment below this for access.

Note: you need to have Google Earth Plugin installed which is safe and only a small file. The next page will let you know the details but PM me if you get stuck.

Yep, mission and a half.

I followed their route (for a bit) many moons ago when I did the Simpson.

Have a read of the top end sections of that mapping, quite interesting some of the crap they went through.

Especially only missing the food supplies by a couple of days...Disaster!

massive trek to undertake with what they had available. like so many things they wouldn't have been as famous if they'd made it. for instance, i don't believe that there would ever have been as much made of the Don's average if only he'd scored 4 runs at the Oval in '48. it's the "so close but so far" failure which makes it so important.

Burke and Wills did set up a great business making very good swags tho' :D
