I a man looking at maybe ordering a new bar this week. I have been looking around and have seen a Patrol Docta, looks ok. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nissan-Patrol-GQ-winch-bar-Comp-bull-bar-suit-high-mount-4x4-2-inch-body-lift-/191853371773?hash=item2cab5a217d:g:aJIAAOSwNSxVZrL 4
Has anyone got one? Thoughts?

I'm old school , don't know why but can't stand those architectural bars , not exactly what they're protecting some of them .

Don't tour too much, mostly want it for mounting a winch. But looking at them, I can't see how a full tube would be less strong than an open c channel like conventional bars.

Hi Garett, I have seen these as well but $300 more. Watching the pennies at the moment. That $300 will go towards a winch.

Tell me about it. Every second hand one I see is in Victoria somewhere. I am in Coffs Harbour so too far away for me.

Its in the construction [triangles] did you see Clunks bar hardly moved

This bar doesn't afford much protection against Roos or accident , it does look good and would be a solid winch base .
If Clunks bar was like this imagine the panel damage would have been double .

There are a few reasons why we buy a bullbar, some where to fit a winch.
Somewhere to attach driving lights and UHF antennas, and the third is
protection from animal strikes. Most modern bullbars are manufactured
from 4mm steel, to acheive the same strenght in alloy you would need to
double that to 8mm. Plus they need to be air bag compatible if you have
airbags

Below is pic of Clunks bullbar

Know a guy who did a rebuild on a Willys jeep , bulbar was made out of boiler tube and heavy gauge steel , his party trick was to line up an abandoned Volkswagen Beetle and ram it at about 20 ks he reckoned he'd moved it over the years about a k .

Ended up ordering the ARB bar from the local shop that have a 15% off at the moment. Got it for $1130. Millweld wanted $280 freight which put it over $1500, Patrol Docta $1250 but no fittings provided and Uneek came out at $1330 for single hoop delivered.
I never would have thought ARB would be the cheapest.lol

You'd probably find a tube bar is slightly lighter than a conventional
bullbar. Plus a better approach

I picked up the bar today. Has anybody put one of these on lately? The body mount bracket is in the way. The weld looks dodgy as so would I be right in saying this is not a nissan weld? Do you have to grind it level with the chassis rail?71436

What bar did you buy? Not the one for a 2in body lift?

Thanks Clunk, dodgy as shit but may not be an issue yet. I started a new thread as I thought the original title may miss target expertise I am looking for. I have posted new pictures but worried if I try and bend these out it may crack welds.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/showthread.php?39799-New-bar-but-can-t-fit-Need-help

No, just ARB commercial. In the pics on other thread you can see why.
