How have you secured your slip off pod to your tray guys as I'm in the process of setting mine up and wondered what you guys did. Pic's would be the go to save on typing over to you .

I don't have one but it really would depend on how frequently you were removing it. I've never taken notice 2 how our jack on / off canopies get installed just know the normal canopies are just bolted down with a square gal washer each side.

I'll ask at work on Monday what they normally do

Thanks mate dont want to bolt through floor so was wondering about a system to under the tray . Keep in mind this will not be on nice concrete drive ways just as a added challenge aye .

The ideal would be camlocks like on trucks but too big .

I just bolt both my work canopy and camper down through the tray - only takes a few minutes with a cordless impact driver to undo the bolts. I don't use captive or welded on nuts under the tray because I use my ute as a ute a regularly and think that the threads would either corrode or get full of gunk. I just use a flat and a spring washer. Never had any dramas. Incidentally when getting the wind down legs make sure to offset the "coupling" so as to increase stability and allow the doors to open when off the ute. I had my brother modify both of mine ( he can weld )70733707347073570736

over centre catches similar to a rear wheel carrier but smaller would work.
I think they have a rating stamped on them

Normally bolt them mate, you could use catches but believe they aren't as strong as bolting them and with a pod loaded up with weight why risk it considering it would only take a few mins to bolt on / off.

Any reason you don't want 2 bolt down???

I spoke with a Pod builder over here in WA and they have some sort of fast latch system but it costs extra otherwise they bolt them down.

They're the same ones I believe I got off your mate Scotty in Tullamarine thanks again TD :-) It's not for a slide on camper but the entire tray slide on wacky contraption 3/4 finished below:

Added the 16mm lock pins into the design for peace of mind. Reckon the 'catches' would need to be much chunkier/rated if relying solely on them. Bolting down may well be the cheapest, easiest and probably toughest option for a slide on camper.

OK thanks for everyone's input ; why dont I want to use bolts through the tray because when I unload at no cement to jack on camp with no one in sight it's a bit hard to secure the pod back on and move it to get bolts back in .

Another wacky drawing below for easy left and right alignment via opposing offset angle iron steel when loading the camper on your own.

And just back up against a tree to shove it forward more if needed, then bolt her down :-)

MB loving the rattle gun, which ever way you decide I'd be using some conveyor
belting to insulate it so you dont have steel on steel.

Impact driver/Rattle gun was Old Wal 's idea above TD, I just captured it artistically :-)
Conveyor belt rubber is great but can be a bit hard to slide over especially if on your own. I'm a big fan of HDPE & LLDPE as was pictured in my scribble. Very hard wearing, especially HDPE and both are slippery as for hip & shoulder tackle alignment.

Haven't purchased off Dotmar before but they have a great range of extruded profiles on their web too.

Something like R125 profile to cap angle iron could work hopefully.

Why not carry around 4 flat bits of timber to sit the Lift off legs on, set the height so you can reverse under it and your done surely.

Probably a bit hard to see in my photos but on both the front and rear pads that I bolt through are designed to fit snug against the inside of the gunnel on my tray - makes locating my camper in relation to the bolt holes in tray easier. I don't have any dramas on uneven ground - I don't unload on a cement pad at home either.
