Hi Guys and Girls,
Now before I go on I just want to state that I used the search function and couldnt find anything in regards to what I'm after as i only found info for Ls1 Conversion.

Im looking at sourcing parts to slowly pile together an L98 6 litre swap for my GU Patrol.

She is currently a 4500 petrol auto so would like to know the following,
Given that its not a cheap procedure I have decided to allow myself to source out the parts myself and then hand it all to my mechanic in which I just pay him labour for the install.

So i am trying to compile a list of things that I will need for the Conversion.

Given that this is the first post for the entire build thread I ask anybody who is experienced in this field or has any relevant info to chyme in with where I can source certain parts and or What parts they may believe I require…

So far from What I know , I need the following…

1x L98 6.0 V8 Engine from like a 2007 SS
1x Custom Loom made to Suit L98 engine which also plugs into factory Ecu (so all the other stuff like aircon etc still works

Now It may sound like a silly question to sum but i am trying to educate myself along the way too as I don't know so forgive me for sounding stupid when asking but, will I need the following…

1.Will I need to use the Holden Auto or do I use the GU patrol one ? (assuming pootrol)
If i have to use the Holden Tranny how does this incorporate the Low and High transfer???

2. Do I need some type of Adapter to suit the engine to Patrol Transmission/transfer and if so what is this part called ?
How much is it?

Is there anything else I would require to perform the build/conversion?
Obviously i will sort out exhaust, new belts etc BUT,

What other costs have I missed and Parts?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers In Advance!

What sort of brakes do you need to upgrade to?

I havent really gone that far ahead to be honest with you as i am still trying to ensure i have the engine conversion side of things covered.
Given that this is going to be a build/project over a year and because im new to pootrols amd conversions i have a lot of researching to do.
Of anybody else has an answer feel free to chyme in as i also will be adding all this info to this thread

Might be best to speak to an engineer about what you need. Last thing you want is to do it all only to find out its wrong.
Just so you know the Patrols with the TB48 motor run larger front brakes. Bigger master cylinder, bigger bore caliper and slightly larger discs. I did this conversion on my Patrol along with ADR approved braided lines. Big difference in stopping power.

This thread might be of some help. Theres a link to all the VASS approved engineers in Victoria too.

Just do what the engineer says and not what others tell you and you can't go wrong. Well, you shouldn't. Lol.

L98 is basically the same as sticking in an ls1, all from the same base family. In Qld i know for fact you dont need bigger brakes even with an lsa engine but might be different for you :)
