This month’s topic, chosen by our April Winner Boinzo, is Sand. He wrote "Let's stick with the theme. Instead of "rocks". Let's go for "Sand". There's so much of this great country that is covered in sand. And our patrols are great for getting us there!

A mate did similar, collected sand samples from many deserts & then carefully poured each sample into a glass bottle creating multiple contrasting layers, each labelled. Quite a good conversation piece. Stored on a shelf out of the reach of children.

When I did the Madigan Line I took a box of Zip Lock bags and took samples along the way. I should have taken more. I maybe took 10 bags for the trip.

The Stark contrast of colours for just one trip across the Northern Simpson is quite extraordinary.

I had never heard of Callcup Sandhill so I googled it and was supprised that I got 5600 results, then I googled Big Red Sandhill and it is just a little bit more famous, 5,600 results compared to 232,000 results.
