April ’16 Photo Competition.

This month’s competition topic has been chosen by our March winner Cuppa

My choice is for this month’s topic is Rock, or Rocks. We live in a country with a huge range of colours & textures in our rocks. I hope this range might be reflected in our
entries.

Good luck all.

Ps. Please read though the pink bit below if you haven’t done so yet. Ta.

Pps. It always helps to post a brief explanatory caption with your entry.

Regards
Cuppa

Past winning photos can be viewed here (http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/showthread.php?29697-Photo-Comp-Past-Topics-amp-Winners).

Monthly Photo Competition guidelines (Please read)

* Each month a new competition thread will commence & all forum members are invited to submit their photos .

* Maximum of three entries per person.

* Multiple entries should be made in separate posts

* Each entry should consist of a single photograph & a short description only

* Comments pertinent to entries are encouraged, but please do not use this thread to engage in banter

* Photos MUST have been taken by the member posting the photos or members of their party.

* Any photo which has been a winner will not be eligible for re-entry in any future competition.

* Please do not post photos that are not entries in the competition.

* Please do not re-post other folks entries within the thread

* The winner of the month's competition gets to choose the following month's competition topic.

* All members are encouraged to vote for the photos they think should win. This will be done by pressing the 'Thanks' button located underneath each post. Toward the end of the month the date & time of competition closure will be announced. Following this time the thread will be locked & the 'Thanks' counted to determine the winner.

* 'Thanks' may be added or withdrawn at any time during the month up until the competition is closed.
You are welcome to thank as many different posts as you wish!

* In the event of a tied first place I will add a casting vote, except in circumstances where my entry is one of the tied ones, in which case I will withdraw my entry.

*Inappropriate photos eg, sexual, racist, violent etc are unacceptable & should not be posted.

Thanks for your cooperation

Always thought that rock was returned to the Devils Marbles,
convinced that other rock is different, seems the powers that be
stole a rock from the Devils Marbles without permission of the
traditional owner. Ive read some where it was returned and another rock selected
in its place, the traditional owner did a blessing of the rock. they are two different rocks IMO
it was somewhere else in 1980,This one was about 20k out on the southern side of the HWY
Larrapinta drv I think after all it was 1980, took a customers bike for a spin lol

@ Cuppa my mate was a Ranger Ayers rock at the time before any name changes
We could nearly touch the Rock, the bonus was we could travel anywhere and we did
We drove from "Ayers rock" to the "Olgas" the back way and even camped out there
one night oh yeah they were the days, I think the casino was just being built
The rangers quarters are just behind the Landie 186s, [not mine]
The Pitantjatjara People slept in make shift Mia Mias just to the left of the picture
Remember well some of the elders like one eye Mary and Nipper.
Nipper helped the Police in trying to find baby Azaria, this photo was taken the day before
a Dingo grabbed her.

Well this months comp has seen a good number of entries, & of a high standard. Well done everyone who posted their photos. Well done also to the voters, it's good to see some higher voting numbers.

Competition was very close with two entries taking it down to the wire, but we do have a winner.

In first place with 23 votes is Boinzo with his photo of Handrail Pool, in Weano Gorge, Karijini NP. I was pretty envious of that pic. Those of you who have been there might recall that part of the initial descent into the gorge is by ladder down the cliff. It was there that my wife managed to drop my camera. I recall seeing it bounce down the rocks. The fall killed it & so no pics of Handrail Pool & a new camera bought in Port Hedland a bit later.

http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2014/09/36.jpg

In second place with 22 votes is VK2FMIA with his shot of the spectacular Sawn Rocks in the Mt Kaputar NP.

http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2016/05/80.jpg

In third place with 15 votes is Fracster with his North Yorkshire landscape showing the limestone paving.
