Yep you should be right I used 4mm efi fuel line and then clamped that to the teflon tubing or cable tie
or you could use a 1/8th fitting that excepts an olive type join

Weld a bung in the front ic pipe. If you have access to a welder....

There is a spot under the IC that you can drill and tap as well.
thats where mine was originally.
OOI do you have a tigged intercooler, is it the original
and oily

I had the bung in the front pipe where it says outlet pipe. The pipe after that short rubber section.

If you have the vacuum canister on yours, the coke can shaped thing next to the intercooler. Get rid of it and join the two hoses together. These things tend to crack and leak vacuum.

Chances are being a 2001 model the IC will be leaking big time, still fit your boost gauge by all means but
start looking for a fully tigged and pressure tested Intercooler. You be surprised the difference it will
make to your power and EGTs

I read this is the recommended spot due to cooling of the air over the cooler..

Thats not going affect boost pressure readings. Its more so the most accessible spot on the Direct injection motors.
