well this might take a bit of time to get this onto the forum but not as long as it was to save the girl
it all started back in 2000 for a 1982 mq patrol (just like the one my brother in-law had back in 82
sitting on the side of the road for $1500.00 ono
250 cross-flow 31 inch tires and 3 months rego so $1200 later i had my first 4wd
64393
it was about 2009 when i thought it was time to find out how much rust to old girl had
well i got sick of wearing wet weather gear when it rained (inside to patrol lol)
so into the man cave it went not to be seen for 8 months
64394
the rust was really bad really i should have scraped the poor thing
so on the hunt for parts and panels , 5 more swb's were found , talk to one farmer and bingo got 4 shells
strait up .
so i had 99 percent of panels and bits i needed
64395
i wont put up to many pictures as the are shit loads
but most of them i have uploaded to my gallery so fill free to have a look
it does help to have work for my father and brother in-laws panel and panel shop
because some thing like this project would have been quoted around the 15 k mark plus parts
64396
64397
64398
and then i painted it JAVA BROWN and i had a NEW POO TROL
6439964400
SO 35 INCH CLAWS AND A FRESH 250 CROSS FLOW we when bush
64401
64402
it was the best day in 8 months that i had but man the clean up was up there
64404
the shit hit the fan when my wife seen how much mud was on the drive way
and really got into me about the new paint job
but 2 pack paint is pretty good not bullet proof but close
so as a few years went past and looking and what was around it was time for some bigger wheels .
some 15 x 12 rims and some 38 x 13 creepy crawlers
64405
i had already opened the front and rear guards up for the 35's but man 38's was going to be a bit more fun
so you get some masking tape and tape in your lines and get ready to do some major work
64406
64407
yep them 31's really fill out the guards
64408
rear 1/4 cuts had to be done
all welded up and ready for some custom hand made steel bolt on flares
64414
just got to love it when some one (jared brother in-law) said you wont be able to do that
64409
so of i go and 62 hours later there ready for paint
64410
64411
64412
64413
and then painted
64415
and its always good to be the big girl on the block

hope you have enjoyed my first rebuild
and dont for get to have a look at the gallery
i will try to put up the other 2 projects that i have done and still in the process of doing
thanks Don

Don,
thanks for the entertainment,,,,,,bloody brilliant job.
I presume with those treads and donk, if you give it the beans in 2WD, it simply flips a backward loop?
Cool,
Col.
