Hey guys,

We are planning a day trip to Wesburn which is going to have some extreme hardcore 4X4 driving, on Saturday the 30th of January.
We have planned to hit Ellis track as the major attraction, if time allows we will have a look at Cemetery Track and some others in that area. If we still have time we will try and do Rock Track in Toolangi as well. The day will be ended by pizzas at AB's house in Christmas Hills.
PANEL DAMAGE IS A VERY REAL POSSIBILITY on this trip and almost guaranteed. We will be as cautious as possible and use a spotter at every tricky section to limit damage and make it as safe as possible. I have some photos on my phone of cars that have rolled and taken out the entire side of the car on these tracks which I will upload a bit later on.

Minimum requirements:
33" mud tyres
A winch in very good working order. Make sure it works before you come!
Front diff lock
Your own recovery equipment

Recommended equipment:
Rear locker
35" mud tyres
Rear quarter chop & rear bar
Rock sliders
A passenger as a spotter and to run the winch

Going to limit this trip to 5 cars, any more will take way too long to do the tracks, so far 3 spots are taken.

Members list:
Winnie and MudRunnerTD
AB and MB
Rossco and Bloodyaussie

Any damage done to your car on this trip is your own responsibility and not the responsibility of nissanpatrol.com.au or any other member or non member on the trip.
This is not an official nissanpatrol.com.au meetup, but just a group of like-minded people going for a drive.

Hey mate, didn't realise you had done that track before! I think some of those photos are from Cummings Track which is apparently around the corner from Ellis.

Yeah long time ago. Did it my old hilux no lockers and it was pretty easy in the dry. I think it's been left as a bit of a playground track that's why is petty knarly. Used to be quite a few challenging ones in that wesburn area think some have been closed and others are maintained to a nice standard. Will be interesting to have a bit of a look round tho.

Hmm, yeah okay! I think it might be a bit trickier now, but I did watch a video of a Disco get up it.
It has been voted as the hardest 4WD track in Aus by Mud Map.

I had a looksee up Ellis Track a few months ago in the dry .... I know it from my motorbike rides, and it is hard enough on the bike ( but we normally go up in the wet ).

A couple of weeks prior to our club trip going through there, a Landy came to a massive amount of grief with a big rollover. It was all gone and cleaned up - with no traces left behind when we went through.

I drove up to around halfway, where I had to stop, get out and start planning lines around and behind some of the big boulders where I couldn't quite remember what was over the other side. I scrambled up, and I worked out my lines and that it was driveable with no lockers in the dry with hopefully no panel damage ( if you stayed on the only line available ), but no-one else would come up with me. Probably lucky for me ..... :)

I ended up backing back down to recover a teetering vehicle stuck below me, as I was in the best spot to help, and after some short deliberation, decided that it would be wise to leave it to the bike.

I'm running winch rope for Winnie, I caution further that these are very serious tracks. My GQ is still off the road but keen for a look. Anyone wanting to bring their car should certainly be willing to scrape and dent.

Navis should be experienced in winch recovery and no responsibility will be taken by the Navi if it goes badly. Saying that both Driver and Navi must be highly competent.

To Winnie, Rossco and AB this is off the chart a new level guys, I know your all keen, eyes wide open fellas. Shit gets serious quickly.

Pack your swag, head Torch and as much recovery gear as you have.

Look forward to it.

This is the stuff that I'll love to do. Technical.
Biggest problem I've got is that it has to get me to work after the trip. That and the fact that there's no locker. No point winching everywhere.

Wouldn't mine jumping in a empty seat if there's one available.

Żou wouldn't actually need a locker if it stays like this ... only if the weather changes drastically

If it's extreme or code red fire day that day then we should postpone until the following weekend.

Stuck on that track or in that area with 38 degrees and 100km winds will not be fun.

That should be the Standing Order for any day trip that might be planned on this forum. Certainly was a Standing Order at Club level. If it's a Toral Fireban day the trip is off.

Let us know when time comes I might be able to help drop off and pick up to/from locally.

My gq is in need of some love after this weekend gents.

Both my inner axle seals are gone, leaking diff oil and I have a boost leak getting worse, engine bay has oil splattered everywhere.

I'm non stop busy until Friday night.

I'll ring Patrolapart first thing tomorrow morning but if they can't get me in then I may have to pull the pin or could we postpone?

Happy either way, you two can just head out if I can't get it sorted.

Weather looks interesting...lol

Rossco, my rear bar has had a punishment this weekend if it weren't for that bar and chop I would have a lot of panel damage. It did its job well mate!

Glad to hear my welds didn't fall in half brushing past a twig. Yeah quarter chop and bat is a pretty good mod i reckon.

If it calls for it happy to postpone. Still need to get my fuel pump issue attended to. Diesel tek are finally back from their extended holiday tomorrow, I'll give them a buzz but have a feeling i won't be the only one. . .

Yeah at least now if you decide you want some more out of it down the track it's just a matter of a turbo swap. Pumps the biggest thing so it's good to get it out of the way now.

Dont stuff about. Much easier to run a 12mm at lower figures than trying to lean on an 11mm pump. 12mm pumps just work nicer by nature. And as winnie has pointed out once the pump is sorted you can then pretty much pick the turbo you want simply by how much power/torque you want/need.

Yep it's on. Don't think it's too bad it's kind of next to a main road. There's a couple of k of bitumen up to the track is not far tho. Not sure what kind of loop we're doing or which way where headed back yet guess think we were planning a reasonable look around the area and see where it takes us.

I've confined a 12mm pump and injectors from dieseltec so according all goes to plan will be ready by the weekend. Apparently the front seal had been leaking pretty bad for a while and the pump had a fair bit of oil in it. . . Hoping it should be good. . .

Yeah, well the reason i say hope so is cos won't really know how it performs with current turbo until it's up and running. I have used up a couple weeks f big favours to get this weekend. Last weekend Naomi took time off work which she could not get back so have done a day's pay and some favours. If we postpone I will struggle for at least 3 weeks then heading to Sydney after that.

I will try and work with whatever but it can't be next weekend, this is smashing me.. I am ready to jump in the car and head to ABs now. If it's just a drive around Toolangi I will opt out gent. Salvage a favour for next time if I can.

Eating dinner now, will watch this space.

5th February 2016, 08:15 PM
Yeah I'm happy either way. Would love to drive but can do it another day weather is postponed or we do it tomorow and do it again another day.

If your keen to drive, You can still come along and meet us at another track after Ellis if your keen to drive?

Let us know mate?

Rossco looks like he's jumping in the back of mine because he's light and fluffy otherwise hell hate me for ever if I go without him.

Well we are done and dusted. Great track. Great day. Tough. Earned my keep today.

We drove around the first Rock as it was simply a car killer. Troweled cars would have been the result. The rock had some major scares at the guys were keen not to start the day with unavoidable serious damage.

Had a great day.

Winnie did some damage to front drivers Rim and Drivers side Slider took a big hit. Dented but happy it was there.

AB ripped off his rear locker airline but was and easy fix.

Both cars had to winch. Winnie winch on 33s a lot but the HH diff guard paid for itself today.

I have a few more pics and a couple of vids but to be honest I had to make the decision to put the phone in the console as a 4.5t shackle and an iphone6 in the same pocket was destined to end in tears. I was pretty busy on the winch so I bailed on the photos.

Rossco has taken a heap of pics.
