9th April 2011, 07:25 AM
Hey Warnie - just noticed in your photo mate that you're using the U hook on the back for recovery - that's not a rated recovery hook mate, so you may want to invest in one for the back end before that hook comes flying off and through someones windshield (or worse).

No drama mate, just letting you know as most people think that is for recovery - but it is certainly not!

AB
9th April 2011, 08:17 AM
I really think Nissan should have removed that hook. It does look like an ideal recovery point doesn't it.

Agreed - I have used it previously before someone told me the same thing (literally not that long ago) - makes you shudder a bit when you think that's got to be the rear recovery point and then realise that Mr Nissan kindly put it there for looks!!!

I was just trawling through some old photos and I came across some of my old troll (Sharleen - appropriately named) at Ormeau 2 years ago. She was awesome, I paid $1700 for her, cut the guards and fitted 35"s, such a good learning curve.

Shaleen going up the Tower of Terror, she made it half way up, oh well

Nice. Where abouts in qld is the tower of terror mate?

Warnie
11th April 2011, 11:48 AM
The tower of terror is at Ormeau (half way between Brisbane and the Gold Coast), which has now been closed down for almost a year. There was to much polution being done to the creeks and the Quarry so the gold coast city council along with the owner of the land shut it down. whne will people learn not to abuse a good thing when they have it. Its our loss. It was such a great place to go wheeling, something for everyone, Especially the extreme guys. TOT, Bumcrack, TOT chicken track and heaps of challenging creek runs

I got to work on my drawers today and changed my wheel bearings, was a big day. Damn hardware was closed though so couldn't finish the drawers. I need the hinges, handles and paint.

Here is some interem pics.

There is going to 2 drawers, one behind the other on the LHS, and the right hand side is going to just be an open space. We nade the walls of the drawers hang down a little bit as runners also.

Well I got my new Kumho KL71's today :) Fitted and balanced $1376 from Noels Progress Road Pitstop. Couldn't speak highly enough of Clayton there who hooked me up. What a great bloke and a great price.

Here is some pics of them on the car. They aren't as noisy as other mud tyres I have had but still none the less they are mud tyres and sound as such.

Snorkel is attached, the drawers are nearly done. Just need to get some longer screws to fix them down. They will be carpeted and made to look pretty later, ran out of money and time for now.

Sorry mate, I am going away for 6 weeks and the team needs my bowling expertise until I go away.

Hey what happens with the RAM effect with regads to the LPG system, I drove it down the street with the head facing forwards and it seemed fine. Is it fine to do so, or does something need to be changed.

Absolutely fine to do so - if it stalls when you are off the gas going down hill or something (at speed when the air is being rammed down it's throat), then you might just need a balance tube fitted (small and cheap to fit) ... other than that, if it's all good, it all good!!

It all depends what sort of LPG system you have and how it's been installed. Most systems have a balance line so the system won't be affected by ram air.

It's the same as mine I think from memory mate ... and mine didn't have a balance line - that was installed with the snorkel, so might be something that Adam may need to get also.

Warnie
22nd May 2011, 09:49 PM
Now that I have read up on it a little bit I do remember seeing a line from before the air box up towards the back of the air system. Must have been the balance pipe. Awesome, makes sense as to why it worked with no hick-ups

My troll has new seals, new oil and all greased up front end and installed my draws. getting very ready to go to melbourne in 3 weeks.

Also on a side note, a little brag from my efforts on the weekend at cricket and still why I play. I took 9/33 off 11 overs and took my first hat-trick it was awesome. Pity we got bowled out for 65 earlier in the day as they made 67 :( . Oh well these things they happen.
