View Full Version : GU 4.2 2004 Security system Problem

Hi Everyone. I have a Patrol that has been the family bus since new and now is in my loving hands. Trouble is second trip home from work it has decided to bring on the red security light on the top of the dash. The manuals I have read suggest it is a fault with the system and needs the dealer to download the ecu to rectify the issue.
The red light only comes on after about 2-3mins running. Any suggestions before I head off to my local dealer would be great.

Key pad entry? check battery in remote.

Disconnect the battery for a couple of hours (positive terminal only) and let the ECU reset itself - if it comes back on after that, them might need to have someone look at it. An ECU reset is all they'd probably do to begin with anyway to see if they could just clear the error.
