Hi all, We are planing a trip to Wombat Forrest in November and was hoping to draw on the vast knowledge of this forum to get a couple of the MUST DO tracks in the area. Any tips would be appreciated.

What sort of trip you planning.
A day trip of 4wding or an overnighter.
Unfortunately, I used Memory Map app and it doesn't have track names.

Hey Megomonster, We are coming over from Adelaide and will be based at Daylesford for five days, so we will be doing day trips out from there,

Lloyd's is fun, 3 sisters pretty good too, plenty in between those areas worth exploring. Wouldn't do either without a winch and 33/35 if it's wet.
Also there is a hole with a tree root going through it on lloyd's that has been known to destroy side steps. If your in a lower car, your sill's may cop a work out.

Day 2
Cheers for those suggestions mate , will have a look tomorrow.
Today we did few tracks. Nothing to exciting in the morning but after lunch things got a bit more interesting.
Haven't got any pics at the moment will have to wait till I get home and upload a few from my camera.
With bog holes and steep tight climbs. Damage so far. Bent side step. Most of the tracks didn't have names or even inthe map.

This is a small bog hole with a tight left turn up hill as soon as you cross. This is where my side step got a wack.

Day 3
Big day today. Bog holes, hudge deep ruts and a couple of recoveries.
First we went down XL track and found a side track off of XL that ended up nowhere and had to turn back 62844
We found Lloyd track and had a look and quite enjoyed it. 6284362844
Thanks for the tip throbbinhood.

Next we had a look up a track running north off of lloyds track with hudge ruts up a hill.
This was a challenge at took us over a hour to get all four vehicles up about 300 meters after which we had a deserved lunch break.
62847

We followed this all the way up to Burnt Mill Rd and not far along came to an unmarked track off to the north. This is we did all of our winching getting out of various bog holes. We tried to go around what we could but some were unavoidable or we slipped in from the side. Good to get the winching gear out for a bit of practice.

No pics of the winching yet as they are all on my camera and will upload some when I get back home. These pics were done on my phone so sorry about the poor quality.

I reckon one bog hole on Burnt Mill Rd is lined with number plates.
This is a track off Carroll's lane. Pic is of a Mates MQ
Dont you love it when you stop how the water catches up with you ha ha
Did you find an old broken wooden bridge???

Didn't see any number plates but did see a couple of side steps on the side of the tracks. Havering the day in today as one of our numbers has a steering issue to correct in town. Should be fix about 4 or 5 o'clock. So thought we would take advantage of a bad situation and rest up for the day around the house then pick the car up and do a night drive. Might try and find Carroll's lane. And no mate didn't find any old bridges.

If you drive out of Gisbourne going toward bacchus marsh its about 7 k out of town on the right
follow it out to Firth Park, plenty of Yabbies if there is water, nice spot to have lunch as well.
We just picked any track left or right and see what happened lol plenty of overgrown tracks
so plenty of pin striping

Highway A8 Just on the SA/VIC boarder on the SA side heading east. A trucks accelerator stuck on flat out, slowly killing its self.
We where the third car on the scene. in about 10 min the motor ceased and the smoke blew away, all over,

Brother Mark, With all the 35'' tyres and bigger. that have gone before. these ruts are just too deep for our 33''

Nice gentle pull with a snatch strap was all that was needed. We did the first couple with the winch then went to leaving the snatch straps attached and just towing out. Quicker and less fuss, especially when your doing it every five minutes.

Growler... I know you love the slop. We have to plan a trip here in the winter you'll love it. Winch would be handy but as long as there's a least one or two in the group you'll be right. Most of the recoveries could be done by a tow. Great fun.
