There's a couple wreckers in Melbourne.. you could probably get it freighted over and I doubt it'd cost an arm and a leg.. trucks going from Melb to Adelaide every day.
If you're keen let me know and I'll PM you the details.

Like what G-unit says, I don't think freight will be over the top from Melbourne to Adelaide.

Thanks G-Unit.

If you're keen let me know and I'll PM you the details.Cheers G-UNIT, If they do it id'e want the housing and disks and axles,Dont really need the centre as i can put mine in it,The main thing is as long as it came out of a 4.2.As the 2.8's and 3 litres are different ratio.Would really appreciate if you could make some enquiries.Thanks. Jeff. Iv'e heard also the splines on the axle are different between 2.8 and 4.2 etc.

You could give Patrolapart a call and see if they have one Patrolapart (http://www.patrolapart.com.au/index.html)
Also Hall 4x4 (http://hall4x4.com.au/) are a good wreckers and probably have what you need more so than patrolapart. Everytime I call them, they never have what I want. Hall's 9/10 times do.

Give em a call.

YNOT
25th June 2010, 11:28 PM
As far as I'm aware all GQ and GU small rear diffs are 33 spline. It shouldn't matter what the ratio is if you are going to fit your original centre.

26th June 2010, 12:29 AM
X2 mate, you will likely get the whole diff including the centre regardless what it is out of. Likely to be a 4:11 anyway so consider it a bonus if it is. I doubt they will strip the centre out for ya and the freight will be the same regardless.

There is also a good Wrecker in Ballarat. jump on google and have a look mate.

Good luck

I don't have much solo hands on experience with vehicles in mechanical department. I have learnt heaps theoretically and from seeing others to do and not to do. I make the rest up with enthusiasm. And when I do something it can take a while because I will only do it the right way. And the right way to approach life is with humour, or at least the parts that don't need serious attention. I make friends easily with friendly positive people. I hide from negative people who cry why me. So lets just laugh and make a fool of ourselves by taking the P%ss out of our friends here, so they too can laugh and pick on us.

Hi folks,
I am chasing an aerial/antenna for a 1989 SWB Safari (GQ).
It is the type that mounts on the edge/corner of the passenger side front panel, next to the bonnet.
I need the whole unit - mounting head, rubber seal, mast, cable.
Aerpro only do a replacement mast or an electric unit (which requires you to still have your original mounting bracket...). I cannot find a full replacement kit anywhere...
Is there anyone wrecking a GQ where this is intact and would be willing to post to Perth.

For me, I would use silastic on 21045J, it will help hold it in place as you install the housing. Put a bit in the o-ring recess and push the o-ring down into it. For 11072 and 21014 Permatex would be better as Tim suggested. Silastic will still work if that's what you have, but the Permatex is better.

Tony

edit; I use blue silastic. The only Permatex I've used (as far as I know there is only one type) is the one that looks like liquid vegemite.

After the forum meet up I have decided that there is no chance that I can save money anytime soon to get my GQ so have extended my home loan...YAY....More debt...lol

Anyways, good news is that I'm now on the hunt!

I'm after a GQ 4.2L LWB (7 seater) turbo diesel manual wagon.

Ideally around 250-300km's would be great.

Don't care about colour, don't mind a few battle scars, etc but preferably minimal rust.

Would love to find a stock family car that hasn't had a hard life or possiby some mods from a responsible driver if it comes up would be a bonus.

I'll be watching Ebay, carsales and trading post like a hawk but if anyone see's any on their travels then let us know, that would be great!

Victoria based but can travel to NSW, SA and TAS if something good comes up.

Appreciate any help guys and girls.

My limit is 8k so I may be on the hard to find at that price category but I'll see how I go...Thanks!

I'm having a hard time sourcing some of these rims and have a feeling there is a difference between cab chassis and wagon, is this so?
The 2 types I have seen have oval or square holes, does that make any difference? or is it model runs?
They dont seem to follow years, I don't know..... a bit confused.
Most are in Vic or Qld which is a bugger as I'm along way from there.
Thanks for any advice

The small hole wheels (round hole) are the heavy duty wheels that were fitted to leaf sprung GU utes. The big hole (square hole) wheels were fitted to coil sprung utes and wagons. If you have a leaf sprung ute then best stick to small hole wheels.

Hi all,

I am looking for one of those ALDI winches.

Does anyone have any un-used ALDI winches?

AB
10th December 2010, 09:19 PM
personally I would steer clear of the Aldi winches. Not sure what they are like now but my brother bought one a while back and they had no brake/clutch mechanism so if your pulling up hill and let go of the trigger you came back down again.

Maybe they have changed now but I would pay the extra and get reasonable good quality brands IMHO.

Hey boagie

I'm getting rid of my sidesteps in the next month or so for rock sliders - they are on a gq, so not sure of how they'd go on yours but if you want them, you pay the freight and they're yours mate. Have a look at them I'm my members ride thread - I only sanded them back and cleaned them up a couple of months ago.

Cheers

If anyone has a set of solid rear windows for GQ/MQ/MK then please PM me.

I'm based in north east vic but don't mind travel or postage.

These are what I took off before adding sliders. Bit banged up and one of the brackets has pulled through the alloy underneath the step.
Not sure what they're worth, make an offer?
