Hi all,

I'm at my last resort... I signed up to patrol 4x4 forum, and i can't post a reply, message, thread or anything. I've tried sending the mods a message, an email and everything else and nothing has worked.... Hopefully this post works, and perhaps a dual member can let admin/mods know of my issue? As it stands, i can't even make the admin/mods aware that i can't post, nothing is working...

I have recently bought a Ti-L Y62 Patrol, and the fact that i can't do a lift kit hurts enough, let alone not being able to post on patrol 4x4 for further assistance.... I hope this post works and someone can help me...

Thanks in advance,
Jimmy

I know... i feel queer mate... i'm a pretty long term member on fordforums and a few others, but only recently bought a patrol and can't seem to post on the other forum. The other forum appears to have more Y62 related info, hence my interest in it... It's seriously doing my head in...

Why don't you ask the question here?

You can do a lift on a y62, what issues are you having in particular?

there is a lift kit for the ti-l hold tight and ill let you know where to get it I hope you like 2" lift because that's it and may I ask what other info are you after.

Thanks guys - a 2" lift would would be great if available and not overly expensive, does anyone know if it retains the HMBC?

I'm also in the research phase of sourcing wheels and tyres. Looking to fit a 305/70r18 if i can lift the car (or if they'll fit standard), otherwise i'll probably stick to a 305/60r18 or nitto 295/70r18. I'm not sure if i want to go too large though, so might stick with 33s. I had 33s on my triton and it not only sapped the power but the fuel consumption went from 10L/100km to about 12.5-13L/100. Not that i'm overly concerned about fuel use in the Y62, but would be nice to still get decent figures when touring. I need to suss out what offset will work best for each tyre size too, and find some wheels that clear the brakes etc. Would love to drop to a 17" rim but i have a feeling my rim choice will be limited.

Apart from my electric windows playing up, it's an awesome car.

I guess this thread was to see if i could actually post, as i can't post anything on the other forum and have no way to contact any site admin... Was sort of hoping someone was a member of both and could ask a mod/admin to have a look into it for me, would love to be part of both forums.

Jimmy you are on the correct Forum now, forget the other one.
Your local TJM,ARB or Opposite Lock might know more about your tyre size issues
For what its worth welcome to this forum enjoy your stay and ask anything you like

17s come in steelies only. and you only need to tie back your mud flaps with the bigger tyres. you would need to go down to a 65. eg 285/65/18. now your windows this is the reset for your windows but Nissan dealers have new regulators in stock as these are faulty. or should have them in stock. so lock your car now open it get in and start it. now the affected window hold the button down don't let go when the window gets to the bottom hold for a further 15 seconds, then lift the button and don't let go and when the window gets to the top continue hold up for 15 seconds. now that is the reset it worked for me but if your reg is shot it wont in this case to get your window up. just tap your button up just little quick taps will do.

Thanks for the info mate - the quick taps worked the other night, but then yesterday the window stayed down and wouldn't come up... took a while before it decided to work, bloody frustrating, especially when you have a little bub in the back!

a 285/65/18 is pretty much the same size as the standard 265/70 isn't it? Obviously a bit wider? A 305/70/18 is basically a 35. Would this fit if i did the cable tie mod on the mud flaps? I don't want to have any issues with scrubbing, particularly when out bush. Depending on whether i can get a lift kit, i might be best off sticking to a 285/65 or 305/60 (according to Mickey Thompson this is their equivalent to 33x12.5 for 18s)

Having HMBC is going to be the concern. I dont think any spring manufacturers cater for it.

Yeah, that's my concern mate. I figured any lift kit would basically remove the HMBC. Wondering if that might cause its own issues when off road with the car computer system etc.

on track 4wd repairs in Melbourne have developed a 2" lift for for ti and ti-l while retaining hmbc. you wont find that info on the other

so if your going to lift it don't touch your tyres till then but standard 295 is maxed out to go any bigger you need the lift then you will have to change the offset to plus 25.

Kevin - thanks for the info mate. Very interesting about the lift for Ti-L, i'll have to give them a call. I'm aware of several tyre calculator sites (i've compared so many different sizes in the past week or so!) I was thinking of going a +12 offset if i could find one, hoping that they won't stick out too far... I'll probably stick to a 33s, as nice as a 35 would look, i think for my application a 33 is better suited.

Thanks again for your help, it's very much appreciated!

No idea mate. I stalked it in a Carpark without getting arrested. Regardless of lift there ain't much stock about that suspension.

plus 12 will stick out.

Thanks again mate - I'm probably leaning towards either the 295/70r18 nitto or 305/60r18 Mickey ATZ P3... Hopefully they'll fit without a lift if i get the offset right, and even if lifted they should look chunky enough without having going 35s.

That STL does look lifted, would look awesome with some bigger tyres.
