Hi

I have an online business that specialises in landscape photographic equipment - specifically panoramic heads. We are the Australian distributor of Nodal Ninja panoramic heads (http://shop.nodalninja.com/) and laser scanning equipment.

What does a panohead do? It lets you take photos around a central point where there is no parallax error, and then stitch them all together to make one big image, or even a 360 degree virtual tour.

What's a 360 degree virtual tour? --> here's an example from 360 cities (http://www.360cities.net/image/simpson-desert-sunset-australia#252.60,6.17,70.0). When the image loads, click and scroll the image around.

These panoramic heads aren't restricted to professional photographers! You can mount a typical point and shoot camera to something like a Nodal Ninja 3 (http://puu.sh/hWYyW/679d7703dd.jpg).

So if you've ever gone touring and wanted to take a photo that would capture everything around you (http://www.360cities.net/image/bush-camping-eyre-peninsula), then I can help you out.

All forum members get a 10% discount on any pano head. Just PM me and I'll set it up :D

Awesome photos mate, we have a lot of photography nuts here so I hope the forum can bring you some more business!

Looks like we might have a serious competitor in our monthly photo comp too ;)

I have seen someone do something like this up at Blue rag, but cannot find it... It was this 360 degree In-browser view from the very top.
Awesome work and photos there mate.

Cheers guys :)

The photos - Eucumbene is a damn good guess for the first photo. It's actually Tantangara Reservoir (which feeds into Eucumbene). Loved camping up there. Very quiet, no arsehole campers with doof doof, magic scenery, brumbies, fresh water, good trout fishing, and bloody cold, lol.

Second photo is Merimbula

Hey mate, one of our key customers are Crocs Playcentres.

I've always wanted to know if it's possible to get equipment cheaply to do something like they do below?

Not sure if this link will work, let us know if it doesn't.

If not, click below link and do the 360 tour.

What a great is idea mate. When I did photojournalist at uni, we had to learn to take and stitch together our own panoramas - without a tripod. There's a real knack to it.

These look the bees knees though!

Yep, that's a 360 pano mate. Depending on your camera and lens, you could probably get away with a Nodal Ninja 3 starter pack.

Google Street view uses the same tech.

After the images are taken, you simply throw them into something like Autopano (which we also distribute) for stitching and output for Web.

An extension to that is hot linking 360 panos from within the image to make a virtual tour. Used heaps in real estate and tourism.

For sure, it's a great way to stop & soak in the magic of your surroundings :)

What lens will you be using with your 600d mate? The wider the better. Entry level panohead is a Nodal Ninja 3,followed by the NN4. They all screw into a standard tripod centre stud.

Happy to help you out when you're ready at tax time & to answer any questions in the meantime :)

Haha, yep. When I travelled before starting this business, I used to try and pivot around my foot lol. Of course the stitched image looked rubbish.

These days most mobile phones will stitch a pano image on the fly! Cool stuff.

At the extreme end of the scale there are robotic Giga pixel heads that do it all for you.
