Yes we snuck out and didn't tell anyone... selfish hey !!!!

First track was Rocky track and I was not ready for this... bloody wet and slippery.

I wanted to give up a few times... what a woose hey.

After this we did a few more then over to Aeroplane track before heading off to the meet up at AB's place.

Rossco got heaps of video of me trying to get up Rocky and I got my on board video.

These GQ's sure are tough !!!

Rocky track is about half an hour if that. We just finished sipping on our lates then straight into it. . . . Warm up track? ? Nah ! ! Rocky track is a hell of a harder when it's wet & greasy. . .

Not having 35's made a difference plus I was rusty driving that sort of track...

They really made these trucks tough thats for sure..

My damage was very minimal being an exhaust that copped a hit and was hard up against my left shocker and a small puncture.

I thought I had done some steering damage but the issue of the steering wheel sitting at 1 oclock I think comes down to the spare I put on being larger than the rest?

I will get a my spare repaired tomorrow as that track put a hole in it

When you going to upload that video Rossco?

Just a tiny bit of vid of Aeroplane track.. pretty straight forward with a massive bog hole that you just had to plonk yourself into then winch out.. grip was pretty good for the rest of it.

Was it full of water? As in normally it isn't high enough that you'd get it in the car. Just trying to scope conditions of the tracks prior to the 30th though if one of you blokes come along it won't matter

Roofy sat in rossco's car..

Aeroplane is fine.. did it easy except for the bit you have to winch out..

Not much water in the hole.

Yeah Airplane was similar except for that hole which was much deeper. No chance driving it too steep plus you belly out.

The shiny new beast stayed parked at ABs. . . This was GQ country, only the toughest! ! !

Aww so jealous, looked like a great day out. I'm looking forward to the next planned outing Lucas30. I'm bending up my solenoid mounting bracket tomorrow for the winch, that's all that's stopping me from re-installing it atm.

Yeah really really sux doggy, it was a good drive. The only problem was we had to head back at around lunch. . . It was a bit hard could have easily kept going but at least we got out for a bit of fun.

Yeah you can't go too far wrong on rocky track - just break something. . .

I would like to see Darrens new winch in action. . . that will be fast.
I think it was after the last trip watching crate winch up that same spot convinced me to upgrade to a high mount. They are bloody good but at the end of the day a low mount will get you out.

What happened there. . . Do you know what caused it ? ?

The only thing I can find so far is a loose wheel bearing on the front left which I repacked with grease and re-tensioned.

Without it being on a hoist it is hard to check a lot of the bushes.. I will put my rear back on and see how that goes driving to Toorak and back today.

As for that awesome sound Eric it wont be there for too much longer as when I can it will get a muffler to quiet it down... its just to much on the freeway with my family in the car trying to have a chat....droning !!

Man you guys have some decent stuff up that way! My folks are moving to Wangaratta soon, so I'm gunn have pay you guys a visit and check these tracks out for myself! And say hi to mum of course.

Do you have any scrubbing AB, or has the guard chop allowed for full clearance?

Cheers

Absolutely no scrubbing and that day was a decent test that's for sure :)

I have found some more damage from that track which is a stuffed upper panhard bush on the front..

Chasing this weird steering issue since that track and while getting my daughter to help found the bush was stuffed.

I will head over to mudski's tonight to get another... so the cost from one track is mounting.

I hope this sorts the problem?

No need to be nervous Cam. As long as we have recovery gear and a good bunch of people that are willing to help we'll be right and I reckon we've got both of those.

Not good to hear GQJETT. Looks like Toolangi is living up to it's "Truck breaker" name. It's hungry, and is having a feast right now...
Few other Facebook pages and forums I read all report a lot of damage, from the weekend gone. Toolangi, after all that rain was always gonna be interesting...

Bloodyaussie
19th May 2015, 09:26 PM
So my steering issue was a panhard bush... installed one this evening and went for a test drive and all is well again.

Thanks mudski..

I think i have sorted most of the issues from that track.

Glad i figured it out as there is nothing worse than getting frustrated and not being able to solve the problem.

We will be right. Just will pick and choose what we do. If we take tracks a bit easier just means we might have to winch more

And also at this stage I'm thinking an early finish to set up camp and crack into a few beers any way

I think that's the reality, get the winch out before thrashing things too much. Will depend a lot on how much more rain we get between now and then.

Edit: I just realised that from your post, you've obviously got used to the idea of camping for the night. :)

Ha ha yeah mate was always keen to camp just didn't want it to be pissing with rain. Will deal if it does
