This project has been keeping me out of trouble for a while now.
Easy part is done stripped the LPG tank, converter, lines, wiring harnesses and computer anything to do with gas is all gone.
Redirected vacuum and breather hoses to make way for the new piranha battery tray which fit like a glove.
Next to fit battery and wire it up going with Optima yellow top and Red arc isolator.
Also need to do something with those breathers?? any suggestions?

If they are Diff breaters fit some plastic fuel filters to them
and cable tie them to the fire wall

I'll be doing the same over winter. Just debating how big a tank to install in the rear.

Had any issues with lpg the removal?

Replacement tanks for the rear are 150ltr I think
or put a std 95 back in and fit a 75 ltr AUX tank
Thats plenty for a diesel and a petrol IMO

Its something on my to do list one day but just im just not sure I'd be up for the challenge. When the time comes I'd probably get 2 long rangers installed

Pay to get the whole lot done. Probably a job for patrolapart

580125801358014The removal of main components is easy enough ,keep safety in mind use up as much gas as possible close main valve and disconnect battery before opening gas lines and removing possible live wires.
Tank is heavy i used a trolly jack and a second set of hands to lower it out from under car.
Trickiest part was tracing wiring back from switches and tuning module and re joining factory wires back to normal.(helps to have a mate with mad soldering skills)
Be sure to store tank away from potential ignition sources there will still be some gas in tank, I had a local recycler come and collect it free of charge good deal as it goes out of date this year and has fair amount of surface rust.

good sensible mod btw, keeps the weight down low , and not on roof racks like some.
Even a petrol might get across the Simmo with a jerry as a back up.
Be interested in your range now, must be 1200-1500 k what do you think?
Remember weight is your enemy when building up a tourer, especially up high

1200 km I think at best less fully loaded with camper in tow tb45 not famous for good fuel economy. Getting about as heavy as I would want. Heading on a trip up north that will put it to the test.

I've already got the 70l sub tank so a 95l would probably be ample for now. The LPG range has gone from bad to worse, and I refuse to spend more on it beyond ripping the bloody thing out.

I've got a trip in June, then nothing till September so time to order all the bits I'll need.

Cheers.

@ GUMAD IMHO I think you have done the right thing, OOI can you weigh what you have stripped out?.
Should be interesting , These motors are not designed to run on gas, and valve recession is a big factor
Gas burns way too hot I have plenty of melted carbies here from suffering a lean out.
@ Argonaught even with a 75ltr and 95ltr you should get what 1000-1100 ks from a 4.5 or 4.8 on the hwy?
not high country or Simmo

Id kill for that. I get roughly 350km to 100 litres of LPG and 150km to 30 litres of petrol

That's 95+70=165 LTS, of petrol, right, or is that gas+.70=?

I'm about 100km more on gas and about the same on patrol.
Runs ok on both fuels, petrol a little better

Probably because yours in injected. I suspect that would be the difference

Wouldn't have thought that it would be that much if a difference.
Anyone else running gas injected? Would like to know what your getting.

Maybe your right foot is heavier that your left......

My right foot is not heavy ha ha. I guess it could also come down to the majority of its use is 4wding

Probably because yours in injected. I suspect that would be the difference

being injected would only give you a more efficient gas delivery system.
So a tad more power, I think you should aim for 400ks out of 100 usable gas
Something not right IMO if you're only getting 350, use "Y" pieces instead of "T" pieces , creates a
better flow for the water and less cavitation
