Below is a great animation of a Perkins Diesel Engine.

The animation shows how all components are put together piece by piece and shows the workings of the engine once establised.

Not related to the Nissan Patrol but thought it can help anyone with the guess work on how a diesel engine works.

Oh Suzanna, don't you cry for me, I'm goin to Alabama with a banjo on my Knee.

Just in case you were trying to think what the tune was.

Oh and Perkins have definately learnt how to make a nice engine.

Great to see a manufacturer putting out a vid for many to see. How long will small capacity pushrod engines be around considering the developments in fuel delivery (CRD) and the power that can be gained with modern overhead cam engines and forced induction (turbos and supercharging)?

Cheers AB.

I opened this one on youtube and after it finished it directed me to these 2 vids. Its a very old cartoon on 4 stroke and 2 stroke diesels. the quality is poor but you can understand it

Great videos. I have always owned petrol engines. It's good to get my head around the diesel engine though it looks very similar to the petrol.
