Hey guys, will be heading to the high country next weekend for a 3 day trip.

Plan will be leaving Friday night around 6pm heading east and campimg around Licola.

From there rough plan will be to head up Dingo hill track, New Caledonia / Butcher Country track, Zeka spur track then head across to Wonnangatta for camp Saturday night. Hitting up some other tracks around Talbotville area aiming towards Dargo and head back to Melbourne monday morning.

Open invitation to anyone that wants to tag along and also to any suggestions for tracks to do in the area or campsites to stay at!

Given the terrain we will be tackling, vehicles we'll need to be well set up, reliable and have winches / recovery equipment etc

Really good trip that. Done it a number of times.
We normally head up billy goats, then back to licola and home. If your heading towards dargo. Randels track is worth doing.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll check Randell out. I was keen to do billy goats (and still might ) we just didn't like the look of the amount of "main road driving" or retracking , that you had to do to get there and back!

If you head to dargo from wonnangatta you'll drop down onto the wonnangatta road from the Cynthia range. And will pass billy goats on your right a couple of Kay's down
Be a shame to drive past it and not up it. Even if you came back down to continue on to dargo.

Just check seasonal closures, as some tracks have already closed for the winter.
And we want lots of pics.. Love that area.. Shame I'll be on the couch that weekend.

Yep that's true, not sure if we'll head down Cynthia Range to Wonnangatta or stay the northern side of the river and do a bit more around Tallabotivlle area via Tea Tree range or Sarah Spur tk at this stage, but thanks for the feedback!

This would be so awesome, but way too busy this weekend... And I don't trust my car to head up there. But have fun and as Kat said, photos and videos please to make the rest of us jealous.

Yeh just the a small bit around the hut only. Most of the snow had melted around the tracks, with little rivers of water running down tracks making things very interesting at times!

Thanks for the info on Randels Track, was definitely worth while - that and Conway Tk (I think) were good fun, with steep climbs and awesome views!

Thanks for all the feedback guys, was definitely a great long weekend away! Most of the tracks were in pretty reasonable condition, making it enjoyable driving with only a few white knuckle moments!

Thanks mate. I'm definitely not an expert with the SLR - more of a point and shoot kinda thing, but still they help take a nice photo

I just bought an SLR a few weeks ago. I've taken 2 lots of photos with it and was thinking about posting them even though they are not 4wd related pictures

I took some of stevensons falls in Marysville and my wife did a v8 race drive on the weekend

Certainly makes my photos look fantastic I think for a photo numpty any way

Yeh very nice. We purchased a Cannon 500D about 4-5 years ago prior to our second trip to the USA to take some better photos. Ended up having a few printed up on canvas and hung in the house as well.

I personally find that with the quality of camera's in phones these days, I really have to make a point of taking out the SLR otherwise I always forget!
