Found out the hard way last night that me speedo is q decent whack out.

Vehicle is a 06 DX wagon running 235/85's.

I reckoned that as I came around teh bend at the bottom of the hill that I had not gone over 120, but the copper had 128 locked in.

Is there any easy fix?

235/85R16 is a 32" tyre so 1" taller than standard.

Options;

1, Refit standard 31" tyres.
2, Get the speedo recalibrated to suit the bigger tyres.
3, Get a Marks Adaptors speedo correction box.
4, Get a GPS and drive by that speedo instead.
5, Borrow a GPS and put marks on you speedo to show actual speeds for say 60, 80 and 100km/h.

1. No way....
2-3. Any idea of cost?
4-5. This is what I have been considering as the easy option

1, I didn't think so but had to mention it!
2, No.
3, Marks Adaptors have a thread in the vendors section, you could ask there or call them directly.
4-5, Makes sense to me.

Easiest fix... IMHO, anyway.

1. Beg borrow or steel a GPS
2. Go for a drive in the nearest 100 (or higher) zone.
3. Note the Speedo error at 100 KPH on the GPS
4. Purchase the appropriate speedo gear from Mr Nissan to correct the Speedo. (Each tooth difference is approx 5 KPH)

The hardest part is #4 if you don't get a decent Parts Interpreter... or... just stop at #3 once you know the error then simply drive to the "new" speedo figures

Or next time say to cop " Of course I thought I was speeding I have larger tyres and that throws out my speedo. I had to mortgage my house for these tyres, how can i afford to recalibrate my speedo?"
