View Full Version : February Photo Comp - ‘CAMPSITES’

Cuppa
2nd February 2015, 06:23 PM
This month’s competition topic has been chosen by our December/January winner Growler.

His choice this time (not the first time he’s won & got to choose) is:

Campsites - anything to do with campsites from set up to view but must have a campsite in the pic
Good luck all, & thanks Growler

Ps. Please read though the pink bit below if you haven’t done so yet. Ta.

Monthly Photo Competition guidelines (Please read)

* Each month a new competition thread will commence & all forum members are invited to submit their photos .

* Maximum of three entries per person.

* Multiple entries should be made in separate posts

* Each entry should consist of a single photograph & a short description only

* Comments pertinent to entries are encouraged, but please do not use this thread to engage in banter

* Photos MUST have been taken by the member posting the photos or members of their party.

* Any photo which has been a winner will not be eligible for re-entry in any future competition.

* Please do not post photos that are not entries in the competition.

* The winner of the month's competition gets to choose the following month's competition topic.

* All members are encouraged to vote for the photos they think should win. This will be done by pressing the 'Thanks' button located underneath each post. Toward the end of the month the date & time of competition closure will be announced. Following this time the thread will be locked & the 'Thanks' counted to determine the winner.

* 'Thanks' may be added or withdrawn at any time during the month up until the competition is closed.
You are welcome to thank as many different posts as you wish!

* In the event of a tied first place I will add a casting vote, except in circumstances where my entry is one of the tied ones, in which case I will withdraw my entry.

*Inappropriate photos eg, sexual, racist, violent etc are unacceptable & should not be posted.

Thanks for your cooperation

Folks, please bear in mind the ‘qualifier’ to the topic of campsites. It says

“anything to do with campsites from set up to view but must have a campsite in the pic”.

What constitutes a camp site is no doubt open to a degree of interpretation, but to remain in the spirit of the topic I suggest that the entry should include at least a part of the ‘living, sleeping or cooking facilities’ of the camp.

We have a few entries which do not meet this criteria. I apologise if the requirements were not clear & invite those entries to be edited/changed. To be fair to all & in particular to our last month’s winner who chose the topic, any entries which do not show campsites in the pic will not be included in the running regardless of how many votes they receive.

If you have any difficulty editing an entry, try deleting it & reposting with a new pic

Thanks

Welcome to the comp Mac73. As Toddie has stated, one entry per post , otherwise it makes it impossible for folk to vote for individual entries at the end of the month.

Please could you edit your post.

Also at risk of cheesing you off ..... this is the second time I’ve posted the following in this thread:

Just figured out why it looked familiar,
To me it looks like the Wenlock crossing at Cape York before they built the causway thing,
Down stream of the crossing instead of pebbles there was a big sandy area.
Lucky enough to catch my first Barra there too 800mm out of such a small body of water too

Nice photochopping there Eric.... Can you get to that camp site with a normal car? Its been a very long time since I have been to that camp. Every Easter we go camping with my Sister inlaw a her family. They only have a Camry, so we are limited to where we can go.
I love going down to Sheepyards and Fry's and further upstream to Six mile but I dare not mention there as a suggestion to the missus. lol.

Can you get to that camp site with a normal car? Its been a very long time since I have been to that camp.

The site in the photo is 2 river crossings away from the main "Running Creek" camp. And no chance you'll get there with a normal car. Even though water is shallow, especially in summer. There is large boulders in the river, so 4x4 is a must.... You can also come from the north, but there is some very steep tracks through jamieson to get to it.
But you will get to the main Running Creek camp site (large open family site), with a normal car with ease.

Hope this helps.

Everyone now has the opportunity to vote for their favourite entry or entries. Easy to do, just click on the ‘thanks’ in the post(s) which you want to vote for.
