Had a great time, good to catch up with some old acquaintances and meet some new ones.
What a wonderful spot, thanks Kris and Fiona for having us.
Here is a selection of pictures from the meet up, they don’t do the scenery justice. The weather was amazing, sunshine, rain, thunder, lightening, fog, we had the lot.
Saturdays nights meal was threatened by rain but the weather cleared just in time. Grandsons first camping trip and he was amazed to see a creek running through the fire.
This trip will be talked about by all those who were there for some time, if you didn’t make it you missed something special.

Certainly is mate, has another awning with side walls that goes over the area where my chair is, but never bothered putting it up.

It went well, doesn't have a lift up floor 2 access the trailer when its packed, when unpacked you have a small access under the bed, doesn't have a side hinged rear door with sink and stove on it but for 1k I can do with out all those things.

Also has a small tear in the sidewall canvas and a few small holes in the fly screen door but nothing that can't be fixed :)

That flip over camper is a bargain for $1K
I prefer the way that one flips to the side and not flip to the rear.
Fly screen and canvas both easy fixes and converting the tailgate is easy as,
Good pick up will last for ages , does it have greasable shackles?

That was the name on the gate so that's what it is called!!!!!

I suggest the below for the name change

"2 steps forward, 30 steps 2 the right, 100 steps back, 200 steps 2 the left"

Probably need a fire pump from the creek to hose off all the crud in the radiators so your temps wont be higher for the trip home.
They have the local rual fire service attend at the Cruiserkhana and for a gold coin donation they will blast your truck clean.
Highly recommend or throw a few $2 coins at the first car wash you see.
Has anyone done any fuel figures yet ???

Thank you to Kris and Fiona for opening their property to all of us. We had an absolutely fantastic weekend! Was great to meet you all. I still can remember half of the names I was introduced to though, but that's what the next meetup is for!

I got to test my GQ and learn a bit more about what the Patrol, and myself, are capable of. Just driving up and down Kriss's driveway was the most fun I have had in years!

I got to test a new setup for our camper trailer. This time with an indoor shower!

Lost the winding handle for the jockey wheel on the camper trailer on the trip out yesterday and while backing into a space to air up in Braidwood, some little old lady decided to crease her front quarter panel with the rear corner of my trailer. (No damage to my trailer) I got out to make sure that she was Ok and she says "I'm not sure who's at fault here" I said "Well, I was stationary when you hit my trailer" I made sure that the guard didnt rub on here tyre and that she could drive home. (I have to make a report on that today)

Here are a few pics that I took. My wife has a few more so will grab them tonight and post them up.

Most snakes, even the Brown and Tigers, will prefer to avoid us humans. Its when people try to catch or kill them that they get aggressive.

It was great to catch up again. Narelle cant stop talking about how much she enjoyed herself and meeting new friends. (She was very apprehensive before we left on Saturday morning)

Hopefully we all didnt make too much of a mess of Kriss's driveway when we all headed out. I know I had it sideways and crossed up a few times getting past some of the more muddier spots.

If we did then we should all get back there for a working bee weekend to fix up any damage that we caused....... I've got a shovel and a matock......

Cheers,

Rob

Oi! Most of that driving was done by Dale, he learned alot and said he felt much more comfortable/confident heading out the driveway on the last day compared to when he came in! He learned more about looking for lines and about throttle control and also when to give up and ask for help. Even Adrian was impressed with how Dale handled the tracks as Adrian believes he is a better driver out of the two of them, but as I said dirt is different!

yeah it was a little Odd. its the first time he has looked down a scope and i am not sure if he was just confused, at a bad angle or as you say Left Eye Dominant. i had him using his right eye the following day with a good result but when the time comes will certainly play around with his setup.

LOTS OF RAIN GENTS!!!!!

Damage report from me is a busted steering dampner but they are a bit over rated anyways :)
Can't say the same for Kat and Steve, they have a huge panel beating bill, new bullbar, new light and the rest....bwahahah

I'm off to the coast now to enjoy another week with couple of hundred mm of rain and cold weather....I love this global warming crap!

Now I'm really sad I missed it. The back recovered enough on Monday to unpack the car, I was obviously feeling down as I spent the day hiding from the wife and kids so I didn't wind up taking the bad mood out on them.

I did completely remove and re do all the dodgy wiring I had added over the years. Looks good but doesn't make up for a missed weekend :(

Glad every body has fun. I had even packed a 5*3 awning which looks like it would have been useful.

Cheers.

Why do you prefer folding out that way?

The ones that fold to the back a sometimes longer than a site at a caravan park

what happened to the big cook up in the end??

we did it and we did it well! george and kriss were spectacular on the spit, after my pathetic attempts to get the heat beads started. there were many many salads, all very delicious and i have to say, BAs risotto really lived up to the hype it was delicious. thanks to all for bringing somthing to the table! we really made the most of a crappy situation as at the time it was bucketing down with rain but we all crammed in and pigged out, had many laughs and more than a few frothies.

yeah it was a little Odd. its the first time he has looked down a scope and i am not sure if he was just confused, at a bad angle or as you say Left Eye Dominant. i had him using his right eye the following day with a good result but when the time comes will certainly play around with his setup.

I'm technically left eye dominant but there is no way I can hold a rifle left handed. It took me a bit but now I know how to hold my head to get a good view through the scope... He seemed to be doing pretty well regardless:)

I brought 2 kg of bacon and 18 eggs, I went looking for Chris to find out what was going on and he was cooking pork bellies already, said the fire was out and mostly downstream probably best to go your own. I walked back by where you were normally at and kept on going, didn't do a extensive search. I 'assumed' since you were close to the hut you knew, my bad. Sorry. I'm old but learning how these meetups work.

Here are some of my pics of the trip and both heading up there and back. Arrived home this arvo, leisurely 5 day drive home from Krissos. . . .

54640

Mt Raymond, just off the Highway looing towards Marlo.

54639

Little rainforest walk off the Princess Hwy on the Makenzie and Bemm Rivers. (Near Orbost)

54641

Club Terrace- There's not much there. This used to be the shop and servo, there was also a sign that said Hall and pointed to a bare paddock!!

54642

54643

54644

54645

Bloody big Shining Gums up here.

54646

Looking back towards the coast from the top of the Errinudra Plateau.

54647

54651

The Ada River Campground, very nice spot.

54650

54648

54649

Old Bus I found in the bush. Not sure of the history, but looked pretty cool.
It was good to have a quick little explore, but would defiantly be worth a dedicated trip up this way. Beautiful country, heaps of tracks, looks like there would be a few challenging ones to be found, and not many people at all.

54652

54653

Hut on the top of Mt Delegate. The bloke up the fire tower (DEPI) gave us a yell and let us up for a look. Pretty lucky, perfect day and the views were awesome. Kind of need to get up above the tree line to get the views anyway.

Nearly at Krissos, to be continued . . . .

54664

Then some of us took Krissos special swamp track. . . .

54665

O Dear.

54666

Yep, hang on. . ..

54667

GU bonnet up thing again. (Actually better be carful mine was in the camp having a rest with no clutch)

On the Monday we (Roofy, Jane, Kat, Steeve & Boogs) went for a drive into Briadwood to have a look, battled the crazy traffic coming back from the coast to Canberra way, had a pie at the bakery and bumped into Nicko and co and Winnie + Aims. Then we decided to check out the Big Hole, but after finding the river was up a bit too high to walk through we checked out the Wyanbene Caves a few K's up the road, which were pretty impressive.

54680

Only a short walk up to the caves.

54681

54682

54683

54684

54685

A bit of a squeeze through, then they opened up a little. . . Heaps of cool formations.

54686

54687

54688

54689

54692

On returning, we found the camp to be deserted. Kind of a bit weird, was certainly quiet.

54693

54691

54690

54694

Drove down to Batemans Bay on Tuesday straight to the brake shop to get a new hose made up. He said he was waiting on some hose to come in, luckily it was there within the hour (time for brekky), new hose, met up with Winnie, and all fixed.

Found some cool tracks around Potato Point north of Narooma, which was a bit of fun. Pretty cool country with the Cycads and Spotted Gums growing right next to the sea.

54695

54696

54697

54698

54699

Australia Rock at Narooma (Guess it kinda is)

54700

54701

Next off to the mountains for a couple more days of exploring. To be continued . . .

Headed back up into the mountains from Moruya. Nice drive, plenty of water about and wet and drizzly. Ended up camping at the Big Hole campground and heading off on the walk in the morning.

Headed into the Deua River National Park from the top of the platea (west side) and drove down the Dampier fire trail which leads into the Bendethera valley. Easy track with pretty good views.

Bendethera valley, NSW version of Wonnangatta valley. Nice spot, a few historic remains left from the homestead, heaps of camping spots.

54763

Went for a walk up to the Bendethera Caves. Bigger caverns than the Wyanbene caves, with bats roosting right up the end (couple of hundred meters in)

The Deua River and a few river crossings.

Climb out of the valley and onto the Mercumbene Fire Trail. Pretty easy drive with some steepish sections. Follows the ridgeling for a while with great views to the coast.
