Hi
This Question may have be asked before but I am having trouble finding anything I have an 06 GU auto 3.0l and I want to convert to a manual Question is I found a couple of GQ 5 speed boxes and wondering how much different they are than a GU they are both 4.2 boxes from what I can see they do look different in the length of the bell housing from pictures so I don't know if a zd30 bell housing will bolt up

ok so i have managed to fine that the GQ uses a FS5R50A gearbox and the GU a FS5R50B and the gear shifter is 50mm further forward on the GQ gearbox and a different linkage on the transfer lever so can the top cover with the gear shifter be interchanged and the transfer linkage be swapped

Yeah internally they are pretty much the same. But as stated the external parts are a little different. I cannot comment on the petrol ratios but I know the GQ TD42 and GU TD42 had different ratios 1st to 3rd.

There are also minor differences in the transfer case selector linkages as well.
