View Full Version : December ’14 Photo Comp - ‘FIRE’

Cuppa
3rd December 2014, 05:29 PM
This month’s competition topic has been chosen by our November winner TPC

I am uncertain what he had in mind when he chose the topic FIRE , maybe the camaraderie of the camp fire, cooking on the fire, a study of the flames, the backyard burn off, a bushfire or maybe a quirky selfie whilst lighting a ciggie. I’m sure the are many other & probably better, interpretations you can think of!

With Christmas & the New year at the end of the month & me still not knowing what plans we might have for the holiday period I can’t say when this month’s comp will run to, but I’ll be sure to let you know when I do.

Good luck all, & thanks TPC.

Ps. Please read though the pink bit below if you haven’t done so yet. Ta.

Monthly Photo Competition guidelines (Please read)

* Each month a new competition thread will commence & all forum members are invited to submit their photos .

* Maximum of three entries per person.

* Multiple entries should be made in separate posts

* Each entry should consist of a single photograph & a short description only

* Comments pertinent to entries are encouraged, but please do not use this thread to engage in banter

* Photos MUST have been taken by the member posting the photos or members of their party.

* Any photo which has been a winner will not be eligible for re-entry in any future competition.

* Please do not post photos that are not entries in the competition.

* The winner of the month's competition gets to choose the following month's competition topic.

* All members are encouraged to vote for the photos they think should win. This will be done by pressing the 'Thanks' button located underneath each post. Toward the end of the month the date & time of competition closure will be announced. Following this time the thread will be locked & the 'Thanks' counted to determine the winner.

* 'Thanks' may be added or withdrawn at any time during the month up until the competition is closed.
You are welcome to thank as many different posts as you wish!

* In the event of a tied first place I will add a casting vote, except in circumstances where my entry is one of the tied ones, in which case I will withdraw my entry.

*Inappropriate photos eg, sexual, racist, violent etc are unacceptable & should not be posted.

Thanks for your cooperation

We do similar but with glass jars and a soda bulb in the middle obviously you would not want to be standing in the frame when doing it lol but it makes a really cool dome style glow

NOTICEExtension of the December Photo Competition

I have decided that because of the Christmas & New Year holiday period to extend the December competition to include January too.

This is for several reasons, mainly because many of you will be involved with other activities over this period & I consider the quality of entries deserve your attention for voting, which is more likely when most of you will be less tied up at the end of January. Also because many of you are likely to be camping/barbecuing etc at some stage over the holidays so a good opportunity to make more use of your camera for the competition. Extension also means I won’t have to think about managing the comp over the busy holidays. :)

To accommodate what will now be the December & January Photo Competition, you may now have double the number of entries i.e. up to 6 entries per member.

Merry Christmas to all Forum members. Stay safe & best wishes for a great 2015.

Regards
Cuppa

Yes I tried it after reading the packet all involved thought is was better not to inhale the fumes.
Plenty of copper in it.
Basically turns the fire green and purple

Hi all, it’s almost the end of the month & our December/January competition will be closed to entries in a couple of days time , so if you have any last minute ones you want to get in before votes are invited, now is the time.

Entries will close on Friday 30th at 7pm (Vic Time) followed by voting over the weekend.

Just a heads up to any new members who have joined us since the beginning of December - all are welcome (& are encouraged) to participate in what is usually a monthly competition. Participation can be in the form of entries, casting your vote, or both. Please see the first post of the thread for details & have a look here (http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/showthread.php?29697-Photo-Comp-Past-Topics-amp-Winners) for past winning entries. Whilst we have certainly seen some high quality entries, participation itself is perhaps the most important aspect, & one of the things which helps to make us a community.

February will return to the monthly format.

regards
Cuppa

The votes are in & our winner is decided. Amongst all of our entries one stands out as being very different to the rest. It is both a colourful & pleasing shot & clearly appealed to the majority of voters, no doubt many of whom are hoping for a video follow up of consumption of the full handful!

In first place with 14 votes are Growler’s Chillis - fire indeed!

http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2014/09/23.jpg

In second place with 12 votes - a dramatic shot that many of us can relate to - a close up experience of bush fire from GQJETT.

http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2015/02/1.jpg

In third place with 9 votes each we have a tie, both crisp & clean studies of camp fires, both from OzJeff.
