Good day
My Patrol received a chip and stainless steel freeflow exhaust, the head was gasflowed and they did some modification to the airfilter and the cam timing and then it was dynatuned. The BEFORE run was 82.5kw and 234Nm on the wheels and AFTER was 99.8kw and 261Nm. In November last year I did a dynarun at another company and the results were 92kw and 270Nm. Although the results from the 2 companies differ there is definitely an improvement in power. The acceleration from 0-100km/h is faster. At 120 with the overdrive off I don't have to step so hard on the pedal to maintain the speed on an uphill.

A 17.5% increase in power is a good result.
There will always be differeces between dynos so it's a good idea to get the before and after readings done on the same dyno (as you appear to have done) and if possible at similar ambient temperatures and humidity to get reliable readings.

Mate, well done on the improvement.
The petrol motors go fairly good but can go hard with a few mods!

what brand of chip did you use and what sort of power increases are expected from it?

It is a Dastek chip which is developed in South Africa.
They claim the conversion would do the following :
25% increase in power from std
15-18% increase in torque from std

Fuel consumption should be+- 6km/l on open road travelling 120-130km/h

I get 4.2km/l in town and 5.5 on the open road.
I bought a 2004 4.8 Patrol a few weeks ago and will be selling the 4.5 soon.

We don't use gas in South Africa, only fuel. I don't know if this will work with gas.

This site should answer some of the questions.

The chip by itself didn't make a big difference. It is the combination of everything done on the motor.
I've heard of people who installed chips on their 4.8s and they couldn't feel any difference.
The best thing to do with a 4.8 is to just install a freeflow exhaust. Don't replace the manifolds with branches, just replace the exhaust from where it connects to the branches.
