Time has come to jump on board as a Forum Vendor.
You may or may not have followed along the thread that Three Dogs started earlier on in the year which has now progressed to portraying the leather products I have been making.
You can get a hold of me through the forum, my Facebook page;
www.facebook.com/southernleathersolutions
Or email - sales@southernleathersolutions.com
Or mobile - 0487767821
As with most vendor threads, more products will be added as time goes by.
Through AB's generosity, my vendor payment along with a percentage of each item sold, is being donated to the Westside Warriors AFL team and the Make A Wish Foundation for Children.
First items I have available are Tree of Life pendants in gold, nickel and antique with either a lobster claw clasp or screw gate clasp.
They are $10.00 each including postage with $2.00 from each going to the Foundation.

Nah leather with a flap to protect the lens,
If I wanted one that is similar to the Maglite one
I think I'd splice one from some rope

Just finished the 1st trial run on a smartphone case, pain in the butt and came up better than I thought.
This particular 1 is for the smaller smartphones but can do up XL which should take types like IPhone 6 (+ not sure of yet), galaxy note etc.
This 1 has the basic belt loop but can add press studs or belt clips if anyone is interested.

For those that haven't been following the escapades on the OD thread.
Here are some progress pics of the custom rifle scabbard being made.
Steers head is transferred either with a swivel knife or a modelling tool and then gradually filled in with various stamps or shaders.
51934
51935
This is the finished steers head with border now being stamped and stitching holes finished.
51936
You can see the overall length of the scabbard by the size of the steers head.
51937
Once the border is finished, it will be dyed in an antique saddle tan which is a similar colour to scabbards back when they were a more popular, cowboy / mustering era.
For anyone that is interested in one, they start at $100 plus postage and will vary depending on any extras chosen.

oncedisturbed
27th November 2014, 04:13 PM
Was a pain in the butt using sherpa, had to re-glue several areas.
My recommendation to anyone wanting a lined scabbard would be to have it either felt or faux fur lined as the backing on the fur is firm but pliable and easy to use.
Sherpa really needs to be stitched as well as glued.

Told you my shed is an Aladdins cave. lol anyway found some Buff horns I got from the Ab's in Katherine years ago,
Once I have them nice and tight Ill measure up for a bit of leather to go around the centre, probably lace it at the back with some para cord.
Also have some goat horns but no idea yet how to mount them yet, They might be better on say an 8" disc of red gum or similar.
All this is next year if at all, a lot can happen as we know lol
OH why is one black, they told me to use black nugget and it works a charm,
maybe mount them on a big board with some Bowie knives between the points

Alright I understand the fancy work is done via a punch if I'm right,
but how do you cut the Shape? do you have some kind of electric cutter?
either the straight blade or rotorary style blade
oncedisturbed
20th January 2015, 04:51 PM
The design work (fancy stuff) can be done with different sized stylus pencils, swivel knives, modelling tools and / hand stamps.
Some leather tools are exactly the same as fine woodworking tools as both professions share multiple skill sets.
Cutting out of the leather (which my wife and son are doing for me at the moment), will depend on the thickness (ounce rating) and type of leather (saddle leather, vegetable / oil tanned etc).
Thinner leather can be done with certain types of craft, leather, shear type scissors. Thicker you go, you can involve the use of a scalpel, stanely knife or rotary cutter. I haven't seen any 'electric type' shears available so far.
Marking out the leather can be done with a leather pen which has a silvery type removable ink, scratch awl or stylus. Generally not recommended using any standard ink or felt tip pens but they are used sometimes.

20th January 2015, 05:05 PM
when I was a sewing machine mechanic after the fabric was laid out and
the pattern pinned on top they used vertical blade and rotary blade cutters.
Sometimes the fabric can be 8" high, I'll have to "U" Tube it lol
I can only remember a guy using a curved stanely style knife and
cutting drawing the blade from underneath towards him.
Cool thanks forgot about your back doh lol

Apologies for the sporadic posts, as some members are aware there have been a few medical issues going on recently.
Over the last few months, I've been speaking to various people into the outdoors and mines rescue, about what they'd like to see in a utility waist bag that can be used for minor rescue gear or general items that are readily accessible when out bush or foot patrols around mine sites.
From this, I drafted a bag pattern based on what these items were and that could be easily modified and have had a professionally CAD generated pattern that is a 100% original style and again handcrafted with genuine leather.
Here are some progress pics on the 1st draft of this new style that my family and I have been working on.
Once this is completed, more pics will follow as well as pricing and lead times for them. I'm hoping to have 2-3 versions available when ready.

After many months of trial and error, my family and I are happy to release our 1st version of utility belts and matching pouches called the "Ranger Series".
We are also drawing up 2 new designs called the "Guardian Series" and the "Senate Series" which we hope to release towards the end of the year.
The "Ranger Series"is now available to be ordered direct from us or from The Collector's Zone in Clarkson WA.

oncedisturbed, Hi Jase I'm after a leather torch loop to suit a 45mm belt.
Thinking simple just two slits and a hole for the torch ,, torch shaft is only
about 30mm, head is a good 50mm wide. Its a great torch very, very bright
But I have no way to carry it, unless I use a Molle pouch some how,
There is a holster in the description if you can get ideas from that,
but think KISS might win the day here
I''ll see what you come up with first LOL

G'day OD,
Hope you're well mate!
Found some quiet time to go through your thread here, some beaut work, very impressed! In the market myself soon for some new belts. Just wondering if you've got time this side of Chrissy and any more example pics of ones previously done, maybe some basic buckle options you can source too mate? Reckon an 'NP.COM.AU' nicely stamped one could be cool too! Given up on scoring a Hoodie so taking me own steps here if you're up for it ;-) ?

Thanks for the comments guy, greatly appreciated.
I can certainly knock up some belts, np.com.au will be the easiest, quickest and the neatest due to overall size so it doesn't crowd the belt.
I've got heaps of different buckles available including brass, antique nickel and some themed 3D pewter buckles as well.
Will see if I've got any other pics of belts I've done and post them up, some I can't post up due to business arrangements with a law enforcement group I do belts for.

Seriously all jokes aside, could you recommend a Multitool to size suit your leather sheath pictured above or preferably could I buy complete with your chosen steel mate! I don't need to undo wheelnuts 'massive Gerber' range, just a fair dinkum honest tool/knife that fits your creation mate, Cheers!!
Cheers MB, personally not a fan of the Gerber Multitools. I find them fairly bulky for what they are.
Currently I have 3 different Leathermans I use, those being the Sidekick, Wave and OHT (One handed tool) with all 3 being ideal in their own way.
The Sidekick is a no frills Multitool that's sturdy and will suit most people.
The Wave is sort of like it's big brother but heavier duty and more functions and includes additional tools and optional extras like full 42 bit driver kit and driver extender. This is the model I carry daily and is always being used around the place.
The OHT includes a flick plier system, all blades are external including a seat belt cutter, that stays in my EDC bag for out and about and in the troll.
There's 2 larger, heavier duty versions being the Charge and Supatool but they are fairly pricey and have a lot of pieces that can be replaced when worn out instead replacing the entire tool itself.
Most Leatherman models will have some items that can be replaced which will differ from each other.
Mainly it will come down to how often you plan on using it and what you're intending on using it for as they can vary from around the $70 mark ( Sidekick / Wingman) right up to the $300-400 mark (Charge etc).
There are plenty of them out there with varying prices and packages depending upon budget.
The pancake sheath has the model shown above and a more rounded version of it that can be wet moulded to fit the chosen Multitool.

Cheers for the advice OD :-)! Can I possibly buy a "Wave" and "SLS-Pouch" molded to suit off you mate? More than happy for markup as needed, just would be better I think to have it molded to suit from a k-nife guru ;-) !!
