View Full Version : November ’14 Photo Comp - ‘SAND’

Cuppa

November Photo Comp.

This month’s competition topic has been chosen by October’s winner, Growler.

Surprisingly he has resisted the opportunity to choose a topic associated with foodstuffs that only he might consume & with a very community minded gesture has instead suggested a topic for which I imagine that just about every member could post an entry or two...... SAND

Lets face it, a heck of a lot of Australia is covered in sand....... tracks, deserts, dunes, beaches, & then there are worksites, quarries etc and even the kiddy’s sandpit. Your entry can include your Patrol, but there is no requirement that it do so. Overseas members are very welcome to participate.

Good luck all, & thanks Growler.

Monthly Photo Competition guidelines (Please read)

* Each month a new competition thread will commence & all forum members are invited to submit their photos .

* Maximum of three entries per person.

* Multiple entries should be made in separate posts

* Each entry should consist of a single photograph & a short description only

* Comments pertinent to entries are encouraged, but please do not use this thread to engage in banter

* Photos MUST have been taken by the member posting the photos or members of their party.

* Any photo which has been a winner will not be eligible for re-entry in any future competition.

* Please do not post photos that are not entries in the competition.

* The winner of the month's competition gets to choose the following month's competition topic.

* All members are encouraged to vote for the photos they think should win. This will be done by pressing the 'Thanks' button located underneath each post. Toward the end of the month the date & time of competition closure will be announced. Following this time the thread will be locked & the 'Thanks' counted to determine the winner.

* 'Thanks' may be added or withdrawn at any time during the month up until the competition is closed.
You are welcome to thank as many different posts as you wish!

* In the event of a tied first place I will add a casting vote, except in circumstances where my entry is one of the tied ones, in which case I will withdraw my entry.

*Inappropriate photos eg, sexual, racist, violent etc are unacceptable & should not be posted.

Thanks for your cooperation
Cuppa

Pretty close. Not at Fowlers Bay though. We rode our bikes to the dunes when we camped at the surfers camp at Cactus Beach, south of Penong.

I was fishing on the higher ground (on previous afternoon) on the left & croc was waiting for tide to come in to go into lagoon further to the left (in previous picture). There I was -watching a croc watching me from about 20 ft away. There was only going to be one winner there so I left.

Cool - SAND

Here's some to be getting on with

Hiya Steve, some great photos! If you check out the entry guidelines in the first post of the thread, you’ll find it is as megatexture has said. One photo per post makes it possible for individual photos to be voted for, multiple photos per post does not. If you could edit your post leaving just one pic & make further posts for other pics I’ll be able to count the votes you receive at the end of the month. If no change I wont be able to. Also in the guidelines - a maximum of three entries each month. Part of the process is you deciding upon your best shots prior to entering.

Thanks

Years ago there was a story going around of a guy in a brand new 60s so in the 80s , somehow got bogged in the sand [Simpson] and went back for help on foot,
They still haven't recovered his 60s as we all know dunes move so maybe in another 20 years it will turn up on the other side of the dune,

The votes are in & we have a runaway winner with what is not only a photo of sand but also a stunning portrayal of friendship. I suspect it was the combination of rich colours & a picture which tells the viewer a story which garnered 24 votes. Congratulations to TPC.

In joint second place with 17 votes each are Bulbous with a great action shot & Fracster with an atmospheric shot.
