I'll spend up to around $10,000 depends on modifications - needs to be 100,000 to 200,000 km - needs to be registered and rwc - 4.2 diesel

Hey Ironman,

Have a look around on the web and see whats out there on the market. I dont think you are going to get a GQ with 100k on the clock. But, then again, you never know your luck in the big city.

Try these websites mate:

http://www.carsales.com.au

http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Automotive/Browse

http://www.car.net.au/sales/default.aspx

http://www.drive.com.au/

Cheers,

Rob

Hi mate, I think you will struggle to find a GQ that has under 200,000 km's for under 10k with rego and RWC...I would be raising the bar to low to high 200's which is nothing for a diesel and should find one for 10-12k.

They are out there but you have to be very patient, have the money ready and as soon as one pops up that you like you need to go and see it straight away.

If you wait to go see it on the weekend and It's good condition, low km's, reasonable price, etc then it will be gone for sure.

i paid 3k for mine but full on poverty pak 520,000k's when the odo stopped working, and she's still goin strong, have my suspicions there may have been a rebuild somewhere along the way v/clean lookin head and welch plugs, also S.A we dont have to worry about road worthy chits and all. look Aust wide for the bargains

sorry guys rushed that last post barby timer was goin off......anyways i agree a 200k motor could be hard to come by and I wouldn't limit how far and wide i searched. Don't discount higher k motors but make sure you get a quality mechanical inspection done first, and service history would be brilliant. A diesel most important to have been serviced regularly for longeivety no more so than the early years........ there goes the timer again gotta go

Am well pleased with my purchase last friday for 1997 RD28T RX GQ 5 spd Wagon with 299k, lots of accessories and reciepts for work, service history (full to 200k), head and turbo rebuild at 240k, recent clutch and radiator/hoses. Needs more doing (suspension and couple of odds and ends to do myself) but for $3500 it runs like a dream and I love it! 1st proper 4WD and I'm hooked! My 4 year old girl loves it too and constantly wants to go in "daddy's car" instead of the mrs' 2006 car with all bells and whistles.

Pleased as punch!
