Hi Victorians,

Heading down to your neck of the woods for a graduation at the RAAF base at East Sale next month. Instead of heading back via the freeway, thought we'd spend 2 days / 1 night heading back via a scenic route. Any suggestions??

More than likely will be hiring a 4WD (no Patrols damn-it, but Pajero starts with Pa at least), so easy stuff should pass as an 'unsealed' road ;)

So any scenic spots/easy tracks that are a must do? Will be dragging the big camera along for some photogenic locations. Anything on Phillip Island and/or Wilsons Promontory NP.?

So far intent would be to stay at maybe Foster or Inverloch for the night.

Cheers
Jeff.

Depending on when, you are welcome to use our place at Alberton. About 20 min from foster. Not much in the way of 4x4 tracks but the Agnes falls and Hiawatha are nice. Plenty of fishing.

Wilsons Prom or the whale bone pub at Wonthaggi might be worth a look.
very scenic around Leongatha as well

Hi mate,

East Gippsland's, pretty cool heaps to check out there. Point Hicks south of Cann River and the whole of Croajingalong National Park is awesome if your into nice beaches and rivers. Snowy River National Park, Erinundara NP also are pretty cool. You could also go Great Alpine Way over Mt Hotham, Blue Rag track is a short de-tour form Hotham and is steep and rocky but easy. Too many options!!!!

Disregard last post, assumed you were driving down from up north. (my bad)

Wilsons Prom is cool, so is Walkerville and that the whole of the coastal drive past Phillip Island. Definitely better than the highway.

Cheers for the info. Down next weekend, so starting to look in finer details.

Are you planning on camping out, or will you want to grab a cabin or motel room, as that will change the options.....

East Sale? You're almost at Dargo.....you could stay in a cabin at the back of the pub and do a bit of high country touring for a couple of days.....
