I am just about to pick up my demo DX Patrol which has 10500k on it and I wonder whether I need to have the Dawes valve fitted and a catch can or any other mods on such a new model (October 2009). I would appreciate advice on what changes have been done to these models to overcome previous problems. I understand that there has been a mod to the EGR valve but cannot find any threads. Hope someone can spell things out for me as I am new to the Nissan family.

Thanks Kgee

The dawes/needle valve set up is not needed on CRD motors as they have much better boost control from factory.
Fitting a PCV filter/catch can will be good for the engine, and despite being illegal blocking or restricting the EGR is also good for the engine.
I recommend fitting boost and pyro (exhaust gas temperature) gauges to all turbo diesels.
