View Full Version : Axle articulation photos and measurements

boggy2006

hi,

thought it might be interesting if people posted some photos of their Patrol's axle articulation (I need to get out more!) and maybe some measurements to see what can be achieved with the different types of mods out there. I'll do some of mine for starters, nothing too special here, just a 2" lift and 2" longer shocks. I'm getting about 20cm difference across the front and 40cm at the rear (I moved up the gravel as far as possible until the wheels span, rear sway disconnect and front connected).

Therefore I have ample evidence to convince the missus to release the funds for a front diff lock or some Superflex arms....I do don't I ??!! LOL

Mine - 4" dobinson coils, 3" EFS shocks - swaybars connected. Can't drop off the rear swaybar as the upper control arm hits the fuel tank, but tested with front disconnected and get about another 50-70mm in the front end. Sorta, kinda happy with it, but would love to get more as always ...

Reshaping the tank does work (I had it done to my last GQ) but the S.E. bent upper arm has to be the easiest solution.

The finished length of the bent arm needs to be the same length as a standard straight arm, bending a standard upper arm wont work, it will end up too short. Scott just needs to pull his finger out and order the part. If he orders it through Suspension Stuff it will save him a few hours driving.

Who really cares about "Axle Articulation" "Flex" whatever 1 shall call it. I don't care what lift is in and how much flex i might have, if i don't pick the right line I'm still likely to stuff up and get stuck on the same track that the standard patrol just nailed with ease. As some 1 said "DRIVE HARD OR GO HOME" *L*
