G/day all.

This is a thread to share our thoughts & advice on the subject of 4x4 safety.

We could all learn a thing or two from each other on this subject as well as put forward some helpful information & tips for those who are new to 4W driving & want to get out there.

The object here ppl is to help keep each other safe in our beautiful great outdoors so lets see how we get on.

Cheers
Paul

When winching, ensure onlookers are not behind the tree or in the direction that the tree will fall. If you have to be in the line then pay attention!

As discussed, never use your tow ball as an anchor point for snatchems, etc....Never!

Choose your gears wisely.

An old mate hit a hill up in the high plains in 3rd....bad mistake....tried to get back to 2nd half way up when he ran out of steam, missed it and came back down a hundred miles an hour.

Also, get the go ahead on the radio before going up the hill if in a convoy.

Another friend decided to go up 20 seconds after the first guy, came around a bend near the top to find the guy infront was stuck. It was 7am and brakes wern't too crash hot and he also came racing back down. Luckily hit a tree with his spare on the rear which saved him but couldve been 10 times worse.

Choose your gears beforehand and wait for confirmation the guy infront has made it before hand.

Windows up, aircon on, when driving through bush. You don't want to get hit in the face by a branch.
