An idea for your toot, we do this with our Jimmy's Thunder Box

How to do it: Set your toilet up on cleared level ground. Dig a hole no bigger than 20cm
or 8" in diameter, then position the toilet over the hole, To keep your toilet clean, cut the bottom
out of an In-viro degradable bag place it inside the toilet with about 7cm or 3" folded over the top,
close the seat and turn the catch -- this will keep the inside of your camp toilet sparkling clean.
If you have dug your hole approximately 30cm or 12" deep it will last a family for several days.

When packing up let the bag fall in the hole and bury it with your waste, sides of toot are left without a mark!

Am loving this 4wd soapie. LOL. Can’t wait for the next episode. What could happen - will Winnies tent be lost in the sand dunes to a freak hurricane. Will he & AB have to move in together. Did Winnie deliberately ‘forget’ to put in half his tent pegs after getting the weather forecast on his smartphone. Will ‘Winnies-Missus’ have to make an emergency dash up to the Simpson to save their relationship. Ha Ha.

Hey blokes, it might be crap in that laundry, but it all adds colour to the story & to your memories. You’re having fun without realising it.

Never go after the races like I did once most dunes on the inside track are clay topped.
all of them were wrecked from all the traffic the previous few weeks, Encountered no damage
but you could not hit any at speed. Why do you want to spend a weekend with 5000 drunks is beyond me.

The destination (as I was reminded a couple of times) was Dalhousie so don't forget poor old ET made it there as well.
After much expense and heartache it sure was good to finally give them Dalhousie guppies a dose of fart bubbles from a true professional... Oh, and meeting everyone was even better

That head wind was bullshit... we had to sit on 90km/h to keep temps under control because we were working our cars so much harder than usual.

I want to especially thank my 2nd best friend, Zach (MudrunnerJR). He was the only kid (besides AB) for most of the trip and he was so well behaved and kept himself amused the whole time. The trip would not have been the same without him calling me a wanker and telling AB to get a big black one up ya... bwahaha! Good on you Zach, you are a very lucky boy to have your Dad take you all around ouback Australia on swag trips like he does. I made a big mistake this trip and that was not bringing a spare air filter. My air filter was so clogged it was disgusting and I was majorly down on power on the home stretch.

I have told you guys before about that.... at least take it out and clean?

Thanks so much Winnie for posting up those fuel consumption notes... that is a great help for me.

No photos from the second night at Orroroo... it was miserable haha.

Caught up with Snicko and Neville in Leigh Creek the following day, and our group of 3 became 4.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2014/07/19.jpg

We stopped to take a look at Maree, it's a nice looking town but it would get HOT.

We caught up with Stropp in William Creek and our group of 4 then became 5.

We continued on the Oodnadatta Track and made it to Algebuckina Bridge for camp that night, which is the longest bridge in South Australia.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2014/07/25.jpg

The next morning we got to the Pink Roadhouse in Oodnadatta. Stopped for fuel (ouch) and continued on, headed for Dalhousie Springs
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2014/07/26.jpg

Into the Witjira National Park, not far to go now.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2014/07/28.jpg

We stopped to have a look at the old Dalhousie Homestead ruins, very cool indeed.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2014/07/29.jpg

One of the major highlights for the trip, Dalhousie Springs. Roofy & Jane and Kat & Steve were there waiting for us when we arrived. We planned to stay there 2 nights and I'm so glad we did. We had a quick look around and set up camp, then it was off to Mt. Dare to fill up with fuel for the last time before crossing the desert.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2014/07/30.jpg

On our way to Mt. Dare we caught up with The Evil Twin! He was headed for Dalhousie and we had a beer and talked crap with him for a while and he headed back to Mt. Dare, shame about his trailer but I'm glad it's all good now.
The Dalhousie spring was amazing, an enormous 38 degree pool... how good is that! Especially when you are hungover at 5.30am and you wander down there and watch the sunrise from your little paradise... or when you sit in there all afternoon in the shade and drink beer.... yeeeeeeeeeeeah.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2014/07/31.jpg

Rossco & Nicole arrived at about 8.30pm on our first night in Dalhousie, we now had our final 9 cars ready to cross the desert.

I am going to have some info missing while my iPad works itself out and I sort some stuff out with Mud Maps... sorry but I will edit these posts.

A spit roast in the desert never goes astray =]
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2014/07/33.jpg

We stopped at the Lone Gum Tree after our first night in the desert (it got cold fast). The Lone Gum was pretty cool, still no idea on how it got there though.

Another happy snap of the GQs
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2014/07/38.jpg

Our last day in the desert, we stayed 3 nights in there and it was amazing. We reached Big Red at about 10.30am. Wow, it was everything I was hoping for... a mega challenge!
We all had 3 shots and only Rossco managed to make it up, he got it 2nd go. Andy and I had our cars fully airbourne on the humps at the bottom..... not cool!
Round 2, Darren made it up first go! I went up after him and got up on my first go as well, hell yeah we did! Next was Stropp who also got up but didn't have his camera on, so he went back down and gave it about 5 more goes before he got up as well.

Winnie your Trip report is looking great mate, I will add a couple of things too. For a start, our roll out time was 8:30am each day and the first day we rolled out of Dalhousie at 8:10am because everyone was ready to go! We wanted to get away from the idiot who was running a Genset to cook his toast too!!! WTF!

Here is a couple of screen shots of the trip from my Hema. The icons are as follows. The person Icon is where we camped. The drop pins are points of interest. I have just marked them up roughly sitting here rather than dropping them on the map while there.

We did some kms and saw the Desert is so many guises that it was truly extraordinary. So different so often! Pick a box and we encountered it.

The auspit was great. The meat cooked well but slowly and when done the vegis were Raw! We rested the meat and put the vegis back on and dropped them to just off the coals and they were awesome in 20minutes.

Winnie bought the setup off eBay second hand for a song and turned up in the middle of the Simpson with it still with the previous owners D Cell batteries and No Spares!!! Needless to say as the thing slowed Rossco gave him curry about it not making it to the end! Was funny and yummy.

We hit the Birdsville bakery for lunch (a curried camel pie, yum)
http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb2017/Winnie/20140704_132248_zps34a82ecd.jpg

Then it was off to the caravan park to set up camp, then straight to the pub! We had an awesome BBQ at the pub for tea and a lot of beers to suit...
We had a photo at the pub in the morning.

Repairs made in Birdsville were, Rossco had a new brake line made, I got an exhaust mount re-welded, and Roofy got a new idler pulley. How good is that!

Darren, AB, Snicko, Stropp and myself left Birdsville to head down into the corner country, we had another camel pie and went to Haddon's corner for the night.
On the way...

http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb2017/Winnie/20140705_155854_zps231bb2db.jpg

In the morning we left Haddon's and were headed for Cameron's corner. We stopped at The Dig Tree on the way.

http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb2017/Winnie/20140706_113625_zps5dacb03b.jpg

About 10kms from Cameron's Corner, Stropp had a massive tyre blowout, Darren helped him change it there and after some confusion on the radio with a random stranger, AB and I turned back and arrived as the job was finished. Great help we are!
We stayed the night at Cameron's Corner
http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb2017/Winnie/20140707_092347_zpse0e7e7c0.jpg

We left Snicko (Nigel-no-friends) and Neville at Cameron's and headed in different directions. After a really hard slog behind the wheel, we made it to Broken Hill at about 3 and decided to stay the night. We went to the Demo Club for a meal and it was so good, just what we needed! Stropp even tried seducing AB and Darren with oysters.
In the morning we were off to Hungry Jacks for a quick breakfast and coffee and we left Stropp here. An 11 hour drive to do 1000kms, and I arrived home before 8pm for a quick meal, shower and straight to bed!

Guys I had such an amazing trip, I hope I have the opportunity to do a trip like that again. I really look forward to everyone elses photos.

You can't clean out an oiled filter while on the road. Keep in mind those fuel figures are fully loaded, full tanks etc... AB and I got over 1000kms from our tanks at 15L/100 which is higher than normal.
The app is called Fuel Log, make sure you get the paid version of it.

Thanks Winnie, keep it up, it's all starting to make sense now! Lol.

Thanks Winnie.... thought you lost the love... yes you can clean out an oiled filter.

Not while travelling like we were. I would have had to soak it, then use heaps of water (which is gold out there) to wash it and let it dry overnight then re-oil it... like I said, I should have taken a spare.
