K go!

:D

As I can tell, I have power from the Tacho wire at the ECU. The needle has free movement so it can't be jammed. Apparently the mechanics had it working briefly and they said it was electrical.. yeah I know, that helps don't it? >.>

Could be a number of different things matey.. Possibly
- Bad connection or bad solder join in instrument cluster
- Broken wire from ECU to the instrument cluster
- Maybe pickup on motor for the tacho signal giving wrong reading to ECU...

Im not home in shep atm so dont have access to my diagrams and testing procedures however i will trace something up for you when i get back into town

That'd be awesome. Would be good to fix it myself!

Sorry about the lateness there timbo, having a bugger of a time tryin to get info on the tacho lol.. from what I can find the tacho runs direct from the instrument cluster to the sensor in the motor.. sensor should be on or around the injection pump.. will be a 2 wire sensor with a yellow-black and yellow-blue wire..
If you find the sensor clean the plug and follow the wiring back checking the plugs as you go..
Sounds to me like either a dirty plug or possible faulty sensor

Sorry can't be more help mate, hard to diagnose without being able to physically test it..
See how you go and let me know mate
