Well I've got them on, and some interesting thoughts so far.

They are a 33x10.5x15 with square edge so they say this reduces the handling issues..

Tbh I couldn't tell I had 33's on. Handling wise they felt like the 31's..

Now tread. They are an aggressive at, with block size and spaces.
Splices are well spaced.
Tread is 13mm

So first trip. 2330k with 300km threw the high country.. Loaded to the hilt for the rest.

I've noticed a fair few chips but the boys reckon that's the price of the high country..

But something that I have noticed is the rears have worn 1.5mm already!!!
They are soft but dam..

Will keep they update happening

My Maxxis ATs are crap. They grip really well on road, fine on dirt and rocks and obviously suck in the mud but that's not what they're designed for. They have worn so fast, I've probably done 30k on them and they are over half worn, probably get 50k out of them if that. ATs should last longer than that.

1.5 mm out of 2500 km is a fair bit.

Yeah but you saw the tread. Not quite as close as yours, but still not a mud tyre..

Yea I woukd agree, but what those rears were put threw ain't normal. So will review at 5000k and see how it's all going at the first rotation..

So I'm at 3500km now on them and I've noticed the tread has hardened up 10 fold. So hopefully they slow down..
Haven't meassured yet, I'll still wait till 5000k..

A lot of the initial tread depth loss is due to compression that hardens the compound also, so the second half of the tyre will last longer then the first.. So I've been told by so called tyre experts.. Kinda makes sense also though.

Ok so I've rolled 10 thou on these and yea. Pretty much getting what you'd expect from a cheap tyre.

Rears are down to 9.5mm in the guts while still 11 on the edge lugs.
Fronts are 11 all over but are scollaping.

I'm still happy with them. They play well with the mud. Not overly noisy and drive well on the black top in the wet.

As it stands were looking at probably 50 thou. I'm not going full rotation I'll leave rears on rear and the replace the fronts when it's time.

Will keep you posted.

The old man uses Yokohama geolanders on his paj and seems to get pretty good wear.... Not sure how price compares though

Probably not. For the little you save you loose have the tyre life.
Next time I'll either fork out for the bfg's as they do pretty much the same tyre, or I'm really liking the cooper stt's. I've never had an issue with coopers.

what are you doing awake Clunky??

just looking at the moment not a fan of the geo's once I let them down to 15 psi they are pretty much flat and rolling on the rim. I have 265/60r18's and its crap can't go a smaller rim due to brake calipers, checked that today hoping to get steelies. I was quoted $550 ea for BFG A/T KO's which is a rip so I am looking at other brands with a stiffer sidewall

93patrol
12th February 2015, 12:51 AM
that was for 285/65r18's

really want something with a bigger sidewall Summits mud claw have a 270/70r18 which is a 33x10.5 tyre just need to find prices on them

Bfg's do a at very similar tread to the 980's. The 980's a slightly more open pattern on the outer blocks.

For the 33x10.5's I got mine at $265 a corner.
Shop around. The bfg I got a quote for $310.

But these are 15's, not 18's
