View Full Version : January ’14 Photo Comp - RELICS ‘AS FOUND’.

Cuppa
4th January 2014, 08:42 AM
This month’s competition topic has been chosen by December’s winner Nisshead.
His chosen topic is RELICS ‘AS FOUND' So not relics that you own, have hung up in your shed etc, but those you have come across & photographed where you found them. I expect we’ll see some goodies. Good luck to all, & to anyone who hasn’t previously participated I encourage you to do so.

Monthly Photo Competition guidelines (Please read)

* Each month a new competition thread will commence & all forum members are invited to submit their photos .

* Maximum of three entries per person.

* Multiple entries should be made in separate posts

* Each entry should consist of a single photograph & a short description only

* Comments pertinent to entries are encouraged, but please do not use this thread to engage in banter

* Photos MUST have been taken by the member posting the photos or members of their party.

* Any photo which has been a winner will not be eligible for re-entry in any future competition.

* Please do not post photos that are not entries in the competition.

* The winner of the month's competition gets to choose the following month's competition topic.

* All members are encouraged to vote for the photos they think should win. This will be done by pressing the 'Thanks' button located underneath each post. Toward the end of the month the date & time of competition closure will be announced. Following this time the thread will be locked & the 'Thanks' counted to determine the winner.

* 'Thanks' may be added or withdrawn at any time during the month up until the competition is closed.
You are welcome to thank as many different posts as you wish!

* In the event of a tied first place I will add a casting vote, except in circumstances where my entry is one of the tied ones, in which case I will withdraw my entry.

*Inappropriate photos eg, sexual, racist, violent etc are unacceptable & should not be posted.

Thanks for your cooperation

Maleys stone barn, Greenough WA. Constructed in the late 1860s by ticket of leave convict labour. An old harvester, a seeder and I have no idea of the last mechanical object. I am guessing that it could have some thing to do with baling hay may be. It has a wheel for a wide belt to drive / operate it.

Its 1940's... I think it might be a ford?
First thought was it was a FX or FJ holden, but the tray doesn't look right for a Holden.
I'll throw a pic up tomorrow of a relic I have found.

Thanks Pearcey, Yeah come on people, get them snaps in!

I will try to do the usual thing at the end of the month, but there are potential complications which might see the end of the January comp & beginning of the February comp delayed. We are hoping our place is sold, & are taking off in the bus to go house hunting, so will be dependant upon having a telstra signal to get online. As we are not sure just where we’ll be yet, it’s possible we’ll be ‘internet-less’ at times.

Anyway time for a few more entries, Nisshead picked a great topic, we’ve had some great entries, but time for a few more.

I have no idea what the problem is, certainly not a problem for me. At least with your post we now know it isn’t TD’s meds causing the issue! ....... unless of course he’s sent you some. :)

Congratulations to our winner, 'Opinion' from Romania, a great & colourful shot of the old car which Wine Maker tells us is a 1937-40 Opel.

In second place we have joint place getters, Appollofish for his Porcupine Flats Dredger & myself with what Ferret tells us is a 1927 Ford.

Third place also went to myself for the old can on the ground at Lake Harry Ruins, on the Birdsville Track.

Well done to all the entrants. Entry numbers were a bit down this month, more entries attract more entries so let's hope with Christmas & new year out of the way that our February competition will attract a few more.

Thanks again to Nisshead, last month's winner, for his choice of topic
