Which GPS Mapping software?

Hi all,

Recently started looking for some mapping software to run on my Samsung Tablet (I refuse to buy Apple products) I have downloaded a copy of Memory Map which some seem to suggest is a good product. Started looking at maps to purchase and have decided to see what others recommend before laying out the cash. At around US$150 for the Queensland map set and then having to pay again if updates are released I want to know that I'm getting my moneys worth.

Have a look at Oziexplorer (http://www.oziexplorer.com/)for Android, $25

Works well for me, I have PC, Win CE and Android versions. You need to provide your owm Topo maps, plenty of info about these on the www.

Hi FB,
Check out the OziExplorer as suggested by TimE.
I have been using it for 7 years now, originally on my lappy (with a CD of the maps from HEMA) and then on the HEMA Navigator.
There is an app from HEMA for iPads and Andriods that gives you the OziExplorer plus all of the HEMA maps for about $135 (Last time I checked). I know plenty of people who use these and have a bracket for their pad on the dash giving them a 9" screen with precise maps and they work great (no phone coverage required). I paid $800 for the Naviagtor and realistically would have been a heap cheaper to get a pad and the HEMA app - the Navigator is a great piece of equipment but I could have done it cheaper is all.
But always remember to take a proper book of maps for those times when a GPS fails/malfunctions for whatever reason.

Supported by cartographic suplliers all around the world these days.
Any amount of free or cheap maps and awesome amount of help available on the 'net

Like TimE I use OziExplorer for work and reccy applications and have been for 10 years or so and began using CE and Android versions almost as soon as they became available.

Try TwoNav. Less than $10 plus a set of maps covering Australia for another $5 from a guy in Midland Perth.

HEMA just updated their app and forcing users to buy Memory Map on top now just to use the original maps.

Have lost tons of maps, not happy at all
