auto stuck in 3rd

hi all
will like too see if anyone could plzz help or get the section on auto transmission
I have a 89 4.2 lit patrol vehicle won't go in too top gear it like its stuck in overdrive
tested the s/w found its working ok

Hi mate, have moved you thread into the gearbox section of the forum.

Sounds like the torque converter isn't locking up, what's s/w mean?

There are a heap of threads in the gearbox section with similar problems, I will have a search and link some threads that are worth reading.

Sounds like it needs to be looked at by a gearbox specialist and more than likely the gearbox needs a rebuild sorry 2 say

I would recommend running the diagnostics on it and seeing if returns any errors I assume the testing procedure is the same for your year model
