Ok I have the rd28 out of my gu to do head gasket and clutch at the same time. It has done 330000 km and the clutch actually looks ok but how can I tell if the flywheel is still good. I don't mind keeping it original but don't really want to spend on a new solid flywheel if the old one is still working ok. The truck hasn't seen much if any off road work and as such has had a pretty easy life.
It has about 16mm of play at the moment. Is this ok?

Another question for those who may know...Is it possible to just use the solid flywheel out of a GQ2.8? It takes the same clutch and the engine is pretty much the same?

Is there the option of a solid flywheel though Kev?

That's right kevin07 put in a solid. That is noting worse then towing a load and the flywheel gives way. You can not machine dual mass flywheels either :-(

some morons will machine dual mass as they have no idea of whats really going on with these things they are rubbish and if anyone tells you that they can be machined first thing I would ask you to do is call Nissan Australia 1800035035 pose the question to them and see what they say. kev
