Good day!

Need help with my power steering problem. Mine is a GQ 1998 bubble top. When i bought it, I noticed some traces of automatic transmission fluid (atf) spill under the hood and around the power steering pump but ignored the same and dispelled it in my mind as minor matter than loosing the vehicle to someone else. Anyway, only recently that I realized that with the engine on, there is a strong pressure build-up inside the pump reservoir that makes the atf bubble (foam-like) then the same is forced out through the reservoir's pressure cap/cover that throws the fluid itself all over. The engine bay is now messy due to said spill.

Any advice or know-how to remedy my problem? Thank you very much.

P.S. Could anyone explain why this thing occur. Thanks and God bless.

the pump is aerating, air is entering the system, these air bubbles damage the vanes on your power steering pump, probably causing the fluid to over heat and pressurize the reservoir if the breather is blocked
