Steering Problem

I recently bought an 84 MQ SWB and it has its few little issue. One being with the steering in that at times when travelling straight, the steering wheel point in line with the wheels (as normal), and at other times the steering wheel will be off centre but still travelling in a straight line.

Any suggestions on possible causes?

check the u bolts on the front spings they have been know to snap
