Hello Everyone,
Does anyone have any experience with the shift lock release on a GU?
I now have to press it down to release the shifter from Park.
The book says it activates when the battery is low. I can't for the life of me think what purpose this would serve?
I havn't been driving a lot over the break so maybe the battery is off charge a little, but I have been driving everyday this week and it is still doing it.
Cheers
Dave.

The shift lock is fitted to stop people pulling the car out of park unless they have their foot on the brake. If it's not releasing there may be a fault in the brake switch circuit somewhere. Do the brake lights work?

Hi Tony,
Yes the brake lights work. I do however have electric brakes. Every now and then the brake lights mysteriously come on. It must be something to do with that.
Thanks for that I will look for a loose wire somewhere!!
Cheers Dave

Turns out it was the brake light fuse!
Thanks Tony
