Anyone tried these? I'd love to mod the camper to remove the axle, I've not contacted them about a price yet but they look alright.

Not a fan of the airbag and would rather a coil and shock but they can be quite tough however accidents can happen.

Cool what we looking at there $2500, you'd have to love your camper .
You would require a sturdy box section chassis, I like that
Pic is of an independent flip over I can buy.
Be interesting to see what they sell for[a pair]

There is also another version which has an arm mounted into a rubber filled steel tube. The rubber is the absorbing agent. Very popular with heavy boat trailers, but they have many different weight classes. I'll see if I can find a link..

Ye they look a lot more compact then the style in your pic, that just makes me wonder if they would be adequate for rough 4x4 action . We take our camper everywhere and this would make it so much more capable , though even with the axle its got more clearance then the troll lol

That would be great these ones look as though they are missing that sideways support that the ones 3d shows.

haven't found any direct links, but here is a quick google search for pics..
Lots of concepts, and many options..

@ Kallen that system you were talking about is what I mean't. ,Big fella left a camper here last month
which had that system,
The ones in my pic are Sugar glider hard floor campers

Just putting this out there ,but camper trailer wise for slow work ,wouldn't you be better off
having more articulation at the ball via a tregg poly block or in my case an O'Brien coupling.
Point being trailer only has one axle two wheels and can articulate side to side with no suspension movement.
Do you get what I mean? just twist your hand from side to side ,you can nearly go till hand verticle.

Yea I've got a tregg hitch I'm thinking more of ruts and it dragging its ass

Have you welded a skid plate near the tregg for gully work,
, It slides rather than digs in, works a treat,
Pic is set up for a 4x4 Mag but being Un Australian I've un subscribed LOL

Late edit;;;; I'm with you that's a lot of room to gain,
make a huge skid pan, or slide rails

suspension aint really going to help then. and with the camper you cant just raise it otherwise your tent wont reach the ground..
Another option you can do is fit air ride adjustable shocks.. by adding compressed air you increase ride height, and then deflate when setting up camp..

Would this setup really save weight if you then need to install a skid plate system to protect the underside of the trailer?

I reckon going axle-less would be best coupled with a brand spanker design, the tent being modified at the end if need be? For example the previous trailer pic has far greater take off and departure angle problems than axel problems. (as previously pointed out) the axle will be able to put up with some skull dragging, the body of that trailer may not.

The skid plate is for the hitch only, not something I've done but I like the idea.

And I've already done an axle swap over and put on 33's and can't go any higher due to the tent so only other thing would be axle drag.

I’ve put vehicle components independent suspension on my camper and it is amazing. It tows so well on and off road you don’t even realise you have a trailer on.

The design first post is a nice idea except for the fact it's mounted to a very light weight looking frame.
All weight is concentrated on the mounting point of the new suspension kit.
Not a good idea.

we all know that heavy loads need to be spread over a chassie like a leaf spring does for example.
hence why coil shock tower rear ends crack if pushed to hard.
looks like all sideways play is taken by 1 pivot point, how suspect is that!

much better design idea is last post

That shouldn't be too hard to fabricate, take in mind to all these systems probably only use Ford or Holden bearings ,there is your weak spot.
I'm toying with the ide of a 4 link set up under my trailer to replace the greasable leaf springs I have ATM. Still restricted in my case as wheels will only travel so far into the guard. I'll do some sums and see what articulation I can achieve, I'll be using Patrol components from PPL who have change ther suspension

Now that would be overkill.

I love it.. Lol
