Cheers Dogman, probably seen it when the previous owner had it, I believe he used to go fishing down you way quite a bit.

Thanks Guys, just got back from a quick trip up to Jurien bay with the family, so didn't try out anything strenuous. I have to say, it was one of the most comfortable 3 hour drives I've ever done.

Cheers Finly, I'm pretty damn pleased with her that's for sure. I also like the front bar but feel the bottom bar hangs too low. My mate is actually going to be cutting it off on Sunday, ready for our day out on Monday. Will definitely help with some clearance issues I had previously.

They were taken at the Pinnacles in WA, a couple of days ago.

Cool, I have never experienced sand in my 4wd days.
I've been to most terrains but sand is next on my books.

I'm really afraid of going there by my self but one day with someone guiding I there for sure

this stuff was pretty compact, was just like drivin on a dirt road. I also haven't tried the real loose stuff yet but that day will come for sure.

I would't mind giving these a try one day when me and my bus are all grown up lol. They can be found on the way to Cervantes, couple of hours north of Perth. There's quite a few of these dunes dotted around and they're bloody huge

You guys will love the sand when you finally get to some. NissPat you should plan a trip down and over to Robe in SA mate, great driving there and not that far from you.

You guys will find that the soft sand will drag all of your power out and it is unlike any other thing to drive on. ONce you get your head around it its great fun.

Rule #1 for soft sand driving ===> WHEN IN DOUBT, LET THE AIR OUT! (dropping to 15psi, 13psi, 12psi is not out of the question)

Rule #2 for soft sand driving ===> MOMENTUM WINS THE RACE - dont stop, if your moving your winning.

Ok, so here's the result of chopping off the bottom part of the bull baryesterday. Decided to test it out today. Clearance is so much better now.

We actually found the tiniest of puddles to play in too and the result being the 60 series coughing, spluttering and breaking down for the rest of the day........ oops

nice clean unit clunk!

mine is virtually exactly the same ... white '93 GQ with exactly the same bull bar [but without the side bars that run to the step rails]. i'm guessing my bullbar was made by the same guy/company, seeing as i got my patrol from up in the perth hills [mundaring].

my GQ's got a snorkel though ... one of those probs would have got you safely through that puddle you played in ... ; ].

ps good idea to cut off the bottom of the bullbar ... i may do the same, as it obviously makes sense clearance-wise.

any problems i should look out for when/after operating?

Oh It wan't me who had the problem with the puddle, it was the oaf in the landcrab, likes to go at things like a bull at a gate hahahaha.

But yes, a snorkel will be on the cards soon

It's made a big difference and have had no problems since doing it. Whereas previously had trouble with alot of the sections coz of the bar hanging down too low and kept digging in to the ground (also no lift kit as yet, which would of helped).
So we cut the tubes off first, peeled back the flashing on the vertical bars, also had to cut off a couple of inches from the bottom of the verticles at an angle. Couldn't make it flush with the bottom of the bumper because of how it attaches to the cars chassis.
Welded the flashing back, then the bus was good to go.
The bullbar was made by Irvin bullbars, their new ones don't hang down so low.

Got hold of a set of 2" OME springs and shocks and me and a mate went and fitted them this morning.

First started with the easy part first....... the back end, nice little shot of it being supported by the fork lift.
http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l570/clunk71/IMAG0033.jpg

Got a bit exicted and forgot to take any more pics during the process...... ooops
So here's the clunk mobile after the fitting........... before the lift, clearance was 100mm from top of wheel to the bottom of the black arches. After fitting, clearance is now 180mm all round but I understand there'll be a little settling in to do, so may drop a little.

Oh and fitted me rear light bracket, just need some rear lights now to pretty it all up. Spare wheel carrier needs a second coat of paint but hopefully I'll get time to do it tomorrow.

yeah me and nowoolies got a price for set each, with mickey Thompson 4 rib ATZ on the weekend.............. pretty damn reasonable too me thinks

If you're getting them for around $380-390 for each wheel and tyre, you're doing well - anything less, and you're doing great!! Those MT 4 rib ATZ's are awesome mate ... great allrounder, but just that bit more aggressive than a standard AT for mud work etc ..

I actually got stuck first, got caught up on the diffs and was goin no where, ended up with about an inch of water inside the car............. was bloody hilarious when I opened the doors and all the water came gushing out............... luckily thats all that got in, might have to see about relocating the ECU's.

All these bog holes are at the end of the Trail, so was a good bit of fun to end the day

time for the 6 monthly service so that will be next, all the usual bit's n pieces but will have to be done bit by bit, coz I'll be learning as I go.

yeah your truck will certainly look alot more capable with those annoying alloy bars outta the way and or replaced, im just going through the same process, my thread is in the DIY section if your interested in the pics. im striping it to bits and my mate is painting the whole thing. im even gonna change the colour of the dash. this is my second troll, and the greay is wearing a little thin on me lol, always been into black, so thats what the paint job is gonna be.

200k? too easy mate, my current model has done nearly 300k and the old one clocked just over 450k, and it only went cos of theives. do you do the servicing yourself? i think there is nothing better than keeping her up to date yourself, knowing that youve done it all good and proper instead of having to trust it was done correctly. i sevice my car every 5000ks and she purrs like a kitten lol

Black will look bloody great, I think there's a guy on here called Ady who has a Safari, he's not long sprayed it black and it looks the dogs nuts mate, bloody fantastic............... I'm just a servicing newby, and not overly mechanically minded but did the last oil change, coolant flush, thermostat and thermostat housing. Also did the lift kit with a mate of mine - he instructed while I did it........................ I like the whole learning process and like you said , it's a good feeling. Next thing to learn will be A/T fluid change & diff oil and a few other bit's n pieces

i did my suspension kit with a forklift haha, beats winding and un winding jacks. the serviceing and general maintenance also teaches you important things like getting to know your way around the engine, which is essential if your going bush, also makes fixing those little things soooo much cheaper, i dont have a whole lotta cash, but i gotta whole lotta room in my head to learn and i have the balls to give anything a go, and i think thats all anyone needs.

personally i have no automotive background, i am an IT technician, mostly always worked in offices or bars, but i love to fix things, and buying old cars give me that outlet, thats what i love most about cars anyway. its ashame they are getting so advanced tho, cos it means that tinkering for someone like me is soon to be a thing of the past.

ill be posting up some more pics next week and a new DIY thread on how to install a pertronix elec ignition kit, cant wait to figure that one out:thumbup: and cant wait to share it with everyone on here

What sort of light output do those light bars give you Clunk?

As it happens, I've just tested them. Baring in mind I live in the burbs where there's plenty of street lighting.

Only main beams on.

Led light bars only... These are two 10" 30W floods.

Need to test them out on the open road to see what sort of distance I get but not expecting huge things as I really only got these for when I'm out bush.

Not sure if I'll bother with this bar, it's the only thing keeping it rigid l

I went for a drive in my mates patrol tonight and he has the stock candle headlights, I am used to HID s and the LED bar and I was really nervous because you couldn't see around corners or anything. Hated it! Convinced him to buy an led bar though

Nah, stayed in there, just in case someone doesnt like me and sees that car driving around.... they can go after him and not my car [emoji12]

The new owner can take it off

So it will be one more care on the road with an unwanted clunk.
