Gq auto hubs

Does anybody know what the circled clip does, and can i still engage 4x4 with out the clip, my old man has a funny feeling it might just be for when you engage automatically, and if i lock the hubs in manually it should be ok.

and yes Tony, i know you said in a previous post i could remove the auto mechanism and still lock in manually, but these things don't happen very quickly when I'm involved *L*

That whole mechanism on the left is for the auto locking. You can still lock the hubs with out the mechanism you just need to do it manually.
Without the circlip the hubs will lock and unlock randomly.
I'm fairly sure you only started this thread because you knew I wouldn't be able to resist a tech question!

I haven't had the clip in the passenger side for at least a year :(
I don't believe it has randomly locked and unlocked though, must be shear luck.
Better get my ass in gear this weekend and remove it then.
